When I was riding my trike I would pick it up on the run. I have done this numerous times, but since I can easily reach the ground while riding my trike, it is almost too easy.

On my current bike I probably wouldn't stop for a dime. But I have before and who knows maybe I would.

I'd be afraid of scraping my fingers. Ouch!

I would only pick up change at an intersection, the only things I stop for are American flags and reptiles.

Likely wouldn't stop for a dime. A quarter, likely - depends how much of a hurry I'm in. A loonie or toonie (Cdn $1 and $2 coins, respectively) or paper money, yup. I pickup up a pair of wirestrippers once during my commute when lived in Montreal.

I would stop for any amount of money, especially on a commute. It would go toward the money I am saving/making back vs. using my motor vehicle, about $0.13 a mile.

I pick up lots of stuff in Toronto - visegrips, wire cutters, screw drivers, coins, case of beer, bungees. Saw lots of shoes - I find it hard to understand how somebody would not notice that they didnt have a shoe on. Never see anyhting to pick up on the Montreal streets.

i stopped for a marble once. so a dime, ya. i'm broke.

i've found cash in the bushes near the mall. my thought is after the lot is cleared at night the wind blows everything into the bushes at the edge, so i keep an eye out as i roll by.

the latest things i rolled by for a weeks now (not to be picked up): :commute: a condom wrapper, then about a quarter mile down the road, a condom (must have been a quickie), next to a sippie cup. :wtf:

I go for quarters anywhere except out in the middle of an active intersection. Dimes only if it is safe and clear to stop. Nickels and pennies only if they are where I am stopped anyway. Scored a $20 once on an MUP.

I'd definitely stop for it, on principle. But be forewarned about picking stuff up - if it turns out to be junk you can't throw it down because you'd be littering.

On a trike it isn't that bad. I have picked up lots of stuff off the road.

As a backyard welder I'm always keen to recover dropped steel materials. 'Course, on a commute that's a cargo-capacity issue so if possible I'll chuck it into the pucker brush for storage and put it on my list to swing past on my next cager venture in the vicinity. If there's no place to 'store' it by the roadside, well it's just sacrificed with a sigh. My current (and semi-permanent) bike rack in my pick-up truck is contrived of found steel. Dime? Nah.

I once saw a little shivvering scottie by the road so I went back home, told the boss I'd be late, ditched the bike, got the truck, and picked up the little fella'.

LOL! The main road leaving the navy base I work on runs between #1 and #18, and there is ALWAYS at least one ball against the curb along the way. "Is that a ProV1 or a TopRock?" Hmmmmm. So far I've opted to maintain my momentum and keep going.:)

First off I'd probably not notice it, I'm looking ahead or around me not at the ground.

Seconly, and If someone left a 59cm Serrotta Ottrott with Full Campy record carbon group on the side of the road I wouldn't take it either.

I'm always on the lookout for money, cans/bottles, and other cool stuff. Why not? I love money, and it's so easy to on a bike to turn around and stop for something. 50-200 dimes can get you a good garage sale bike, beer, food, and other pleasant stuff. And all you have to do is stop/turn around while biking. More fun making money that way than going to work.

I say pick it up... you are spending a lot of mental energy thinking about it. Pick it up and free your mind for the next task. ;)

I found ten dollars when pulling out my winter cycling gear from storage. I don't remember missing the money. :)

Yes, I'd stop for the dime.

The dimes could come from one of the Nannys from A&S. They sometimes post about dropping dimes on other cyclists and motorists.

I never find anything when I ride my bike, but I wouldn't stop to pick up a dime. Now puppy... I'd stop for a puppy or a kitten.

I have pulled car parts off the road. Bumpers,tires, shopping carts etc.
Hazards to other cars. I have a curse of Catholic school education.:)

From all the wind the other day there were all kinds of recycling bins in the road, one was in my path while running so I placed it back on the lawn only to see it across the street again later that day.
