Does this bike exist in the US?
I'm looking for an upright bike with 26" wheels, no suspension, room for fat tires, disc brakes, hub dyno (I can add this), and internal gearing with 8ish speeds?
The breezer uptown 8 is the closest I've found, but it doesn't do disc brakes. Anyone?

Are any parts of that negotiable? That's a pretty tall order.
If you can compromise on the 26" wheels, how about the new Giant Seek. 700c wheels(but would fit wide 700c tires), but it has absolutely everything that you asked for otherwise. Upright, 8speed internal gearing, disc brakes, no suspension, etc...

The Specialized Globe San Francisco is pretty close to what you want. It doesn't come with a dynamo hub though, and I'm not sure how wide a tire it will fit. It comes in single speed, 3-speed IGH*, and 8-speed IGH flavors, but as far as I can tell they all use the same frame, which would make any of them acceptable for an IGH.
* IGH = Internally Geared Hub
* IGH = Internally Geared Hub

upright bike: check
26" wheels: nope. But 700c with the fat tires is a smoother ride. Why do you want the 26ers?
no suspension: check
room for fat tires: room for them? Has them.
disc brakes: nope. drum brakes. even better.
hub dyno: yes
internal gearing with 8ish speeds: they can set it up with 3,5,7,8 I think.
downside: expensive

As for what to compromise, First would be the disc brakes, but I'm leary of roller brakes given some of the steep hills around here. I can deal with the 700c wheels too, but I like the 26s. I can find more tire selection in 26" than I can in 700c.
The Seek and Globe SF looks nice, but a bit aggressive in position. I don't like the aggressive posture when the weather turns sour.

(No disk brakes but a drum brake that is 100% reliable on the front wheel and 7 sp hub at the back)

Novara Safari - disc brakes, 26 inch wheels.
You'd have to change the gearing on your own.

Dahon Cadenza 8. Yeah, you'll have to add the hub dynamo.

If you've got the cash, the Peter White Silk Road looks pretty sweet. $1500 for the frame and fork only, then add your Rohloff hub, dyno + lighting, etc. etc... If I hit the lottery next week, this bike will be on my list.

Have you noticed slippage on the SRAM i-motion hub? I've read that it can slip if you're really cranking down on it. Can you get a trigger shifter for that?

Come up with around $1600 and I'll ship you one [Velorbis Scrap Deluxe] with about five miles of use on it. I bought it planning to move to a dense, bikeable location. In the end, I caved and am moving from one burb to another.
I either need to sell it, or bring it to work as my permanent lunch/errand bike.

I would say check out a Jamis Commuter 3.0 or a 4.0 and take em both out for a ride.
The 3.0 has an 8 speed IGH and the 4.0 is 16 speed (IGH x 2) also has a dynamo & disc brakes. Jamis bikes are a great value and their customer service is awesome!
I have a 3.0 and if I had to do it all over again, I would buy another Jamis Commuter in a heartbeat!

+1 for Jamis Commuter 3.0, mine has been a fine winter bike- however i've only ridden it a couple hundred km. But to the OP's needs it has 622 tires.
Someone suggested a Surly 1x1, a great choice; I was at a Surly bike dealer working out the details for a 1x1 build; when I saw the Jamis 3.0- got it instead.

Add ~$300-350 for a dynohub and B&M lights and that's it.

'cause if my mind's tore up, then my body don't care!
I mentioned this in another thread...I'd like a Jamis 3.5. Gimme the Alfine IGH, disk brakes and dynohub...keep the double and the chain tensioner.

Surprisingly, the gang has come up with some bikes that do have "26in wheels, no suspension, room for fat tires, disc brakes, and internal gearing with 8ish speeds": the Civia Loring 9, Dahon Cadenza 8, Specialized Globe San Fransisco 8 and Swobo Dixon 9. In addition, the Jamis Commuter 4.0 (700c wheels) and Novara Transfer (V-brakes, 7 speeds) also have generator lights.
I'm impressed.

I could redo my Bad Boy Disc into these requirements for a good overall price, even comparable to that Globe -- but that's partly because I got it at a clearance price.
