Deals on last year's Jamis bikes?

Ok bargain hunters. Anyone know where I can find a 2008 (or older) Coda Sport on sale? Google didn't help me out much. Many thanks!

JAmis is kinda slow it seems to discount their stuff. I didn't see many 07's get discounted this year.

They seem to have some on bicyclebannanas.com....when I google it. doesn't look to be discounted at all.

If you're in the Boston area, I know a shop that tends to have recent-model Jamis at a considerable discount. PM me if you want details.

Thanks, but I'm in NYC. Anyone know a LBS here with a good selection of Jamis? (Or a good online retailer with discounts?)

If you're willing to travel to the Philly area, ask for Ed @ Wissahickon Cyclery https://www.wiss-cycles.com/bicycles.php

That's where I got my Commuter 3.0. It's small shop, but nice experienced people who care!

Just hit up the Jamis website and do a search for dealers in your area. After you find your local dealers, start making some calls.

No, do a Google shopping search for Jamis. I know you tried Google,b ut the shopping tool works well.

I found my 2007 Quest that way and got it NOS for $900 from Bicycle Bananas. Jamis is one of the few manufacturers who allows their bikes to be sold online, so if you're diligent, you might be able to score a good deal.

Jensen cycles also has Jamis bikes for sale online.

oh yeah what do you know, Jensen has a Coda Supreme for sale

I bought my leftover 2007 Quest from Bicycle Bananas, too. $999 shipped, brand new. Jenson just had a closeout on the 2007 Eclipse for about $1400 shipped [drool].

Never seen the Coda at one of these sales, but you might turn up something.

Ouch! Even on sale that's more than double my budget. More bike than I need, but looks like a sweet ride though! When you are upgrading from a '73 Schwinn Suburban which is too small for you in the first place, it's not necessary to spend a ton to get something you will be happy with.

I have my LBS (a Jamis dealer) looking into it for me, but if that comes up empty I will start calling around to other shops in the city. Thanks for the advice.

By the way, are there any other nice modern steel frame hybrid/commuter bikes worth looking at besides the Codas, or would I need to build up something oldschool if I want to stick with steel?

I actually came across that page last night. I was hoping for closer to $500 since the 2009s coming out are $700 MSRP. Even the Bicycle Bananas site lists the MSRP for the 2008 model at $600- i.e., no discount at all.

I had decided to forget spending $550-$600 on a Jamis Commuter 3.0 and just fix up my beater; however, BB is selling the '07 3.0 for $399! I might be in the market for a new bike after all!

I assume you mean the 07, not the 97?

I got my 07 Commuter 3.0 for $535 and it is a great value!

Man. That's the type of deal I'm looking for! Too bad I have my heart set on a steel frame though. I'm tempted to find an 80's/90's road bike and build it up to a hybrid instead. It seems like many others in NYC also have similar ideas, and the prices for old chromoly bikes can bit a bit high (if you can find a good one at all).

If you keep an eye on eBay, you may find a great deal. Don't just look for the Jamis. Check out auctions on other bikes that you are interested in too. A lot of times popular bikes like the Surly Long Haul Trucker will get a lot of bids, but less popular ones will go for a much cheaper price. I just got a great deal on a like new Kona Sutra.

Question--the BB site describes it as having swept back handle bars and a Rapid Fire shifter. I thought the '07 had mustache bars and a twist shift???

Neat; I'd never heard of the Coda Supreme before. A flat bar road bike for <20 lbs? Nice.

My 2007 Commuter 3.0 has swept back bars and a rapid (thumb/index finger) fire shifter. IMO - Their bars are a less exaggerated version of moustache bars.
