Bike to Beach
 

I like to listen to music on my commutes but head phones are not the safest. Has anyone ever heard of the Bike to Beach? It is specifically designed for iPod and bicycles. I am putting a link here so you can see it if you haven't.

Question is has anyone ever used one? Will they hold up to commuting weather? Will they last through pot holes? Will they hold an iPod Touch. Any help ya'll could offer would be hellpful. Thanks

Ahhh, so that was the thing that the girl I saw the other day had in her bottle cage. Don't know the answers to your specific questions, but it was loud enough! I seem to be seeing more and more people riding with speakers. One homeless looking man had an AM/FM radio duct taped to his handlebars.

Why some people think that they have the right to force any other person to listen to their music is beyond my comprehension...

I personally would like to get someone to hack my Bone Fones so that I could plug in a cassette or CD player in to it.

Everbody likes grind core... I doubt anyone would mind.

I wear the earphones that come with my Ipod and put the Ipod in my pocket. I guess annoying others is some peoples pleasure.

I get this argument if we are all riding in the woods or something but do your really care about people having music in the city? There are a lot of mobile sound systems in SF and I love riding around hearing them all. There are even two different dudes who practice drums on FULL kits at two different spots in Golden Gate Park on the weekend. It always gives me a little extra boost when I go by them. Now if I hauled my bike up to Marin to take a scenic ride it might be a different story but who cares in the city?

Earbuds are highly unsafe, you can't hear traffic, or anything for that matter. At least with this you can hear things. Dude, forced to listen to music... Prolly the most ignorant comment I've ever herd.

Just wear one earbud. Problem solved. I don't want to listen to others music nor do I expect them to want to listen to mine.

I just use my right earbud.

What if you live n the city and you're riding with your gf and you both want every building to be orange..? Do you paint every building and home around?

There're things that i like to do that i don't do because i respect other people. You can't do some things in some places without disturbing others...

If i'm in the city i can (must) take trafic noise and other noises, but if there's a car on a trafic light with the music so loud that i can clearly listening to it, it disturbes me a LOT. Plus, if you have you music set up in a way that others can hear it you're contributing to make the place even worse, with more noise. BTW, what if you're in the city and you have some trash, do you throw it to the ground becaue there's already trash in the ground???

Again, i can't understand why others want to make me hear their music (that, btw i'm 99% sure i don't like).

Disturbing other people with speakers or being unsafe with headphones is probably the most spoiled choice I've ever heard. Do you really neeeeeeeeeed your music that badly?

No one neeeeeeeds to listen to music that badly. We just like it. Noise pollution arguments are a little silly, the sound of my stereo is much less loud than the engine sounds of most cars on the road.

I have the Bike to Beach - its pretty great. It does exactly what is says, and seems to be of good quality. I take it on the road and on my mtb.

I've had people request that I turn it off. I'm ruining their "vibe" or something. I usually comply. Most people really love it, give me thumbs-up, or request a song.
