Good trade.
Patently safer piece of equipment.....

rugerben 12-11-08 07:13 PM

hrm....that's a tough one. I probably would have kept the M4 just because the post election prices have gone through the roof and I could get some serious coin for it.
But since i don't like the 5.56 round anyway, I suppose it's a good trade. Its certainly a sweet looking bike.

How is the BMC set up? (ie. components)

ALLSTOTT 12-11-08 07:26 PM

easton titanium alloy frame, easton carbon fiber forks/handlebars/seat post, FSA carbon fiber 3 piece crank, sella saddle(Very Comfy),Shimano 105 STI shift/brake levers, derailleurs, brakes, fulcrum 7 racing wheels, & Continental Ultra Sport tires

rugerben 12-11-08 07:30 PM

In that case yes. A good trade. No question at all.

+1.

I doubt it will kill a deer.

;)

Hot Potato 12-11-08 08:21 PM

I have more bikes than carbines, so I would have kept the carbine. How's she ride?

As for the bike being safer... I dunno about that one.

ALLSTOTT 12-11-08 09:48 PM

like a dream ... i thought my cannondale was great but compared to the BMC it makes my c-dale seem like a walmart bike.

Bevo Bill 12-27-08 09:04 PM

"Titanium alloy"???? Aww man I got jypped on mine! Or is that what makes yours "Custom"?

Anyway; looks good. I'm just here for the BMC base-model love-

Doesn't look all that gyppy to me?

This is like rhyming orange, or ain't but it's only ENGLISH.

AndrewP 12-27-08 09:45 PM

A Huffy would have been a good trade, but that is certainly a nice bike. The saddle looks distinctly nose down, make sure you dont slide forward when riding. Since this is the commuting forum, will you fit it with a saddle bag to carry your stuff?

YungBurke 12-27-08 11:48 PM

Nice trade. Forget 5.56 rounds unless your shooting at armoured opponents I would imagine. I always wanted a carbine that shot .357 magnum if such a thing was possible with rimmed cartidges.

ALLSTOTT 12-28-08 12:03 AM

Naw man you didnt get jypped its a BMC you cant go wrong with one. i got lucky and its all hooked up with high end components like ceramic bearings, carbon crank/components & a badass frame.

DVC45 12-28-08 12:32 AM

I would have kept the carbine, especially if its an "assault rifle" (full-auto capable) as you've stated, but that just me. If you're happy with the trade, that's all that matters.
Very nice bike though, enjoy!

This is your weapon

this is your gun?

rotharpunc 12-28-08 10:19 AM

I would've kept the M4. I don't foresee any changes being made to gun laws though, too many people on both ends of the spectrum who want to keep them. Plus, the NRA and gun manufactures can afford much better lobbyists than the anti-gun organizations. If I recall(I was still pretty young) didn't this same thing happen when Clinton took office, and then nothing really got stricter restriction-wise?

False. The 1993-2003 Assault Weapons Ban. It was very restrictive.

wils0nic 12-28-08 10:22 AM

Look at his location. It looks like he already has an issued M4, so he wouldn't really care about this.

Otherwise, if it really was a M4 assault rifle, and not just a clone, I would have kept it...

Marlin 1894c.
Not semi-auto, but a lever action carbine.

Wanderer 12-28-08 10:26 AM

Being from ABQ, you should have kept the rifle!

And, yes, I do have a lever action .357 that is really a sweet gun.....

But, then again, there is a lot of really nice riding in the ABQ area - so, you got a nice bike for it. (For when you can't use the scooter)

Ah, my mistake, I was either young or living outside of the U.S. during most of that period

"Assault Rifle" is a term made up by politicians AFTER machine guns (full auto) was banned in 1986 and they needed something evil to ban. An assault rifle has "evil" features like a pistol grip and a bayonet lug.

I think you made a great trade, but I have never liked the AR gas system.

bikebuddha 12-28-08 11:36 AM

The 5.56 round sucks so I would say good trade.
