Thanks paulwwalters
Its a Top Peak Road Morph. I got it after reading posts here and over at the LHT google group. I especially like the ability to handle either presta or schrader valves. I am hoping to do a 30 mile drive out to the beach in a week or two and that little feature may come in handy since none of my buddies have tricked out there bikes as commuters. |
Have fun, I wish I lived close to a beach!

The Big Dummy is done! I think I'll continue to commute on the Fuji mostly, but this will be great for those days I need to restock clothing and food! ;)

I hate those bars but other than that it's awesome!

http://www.chipcom.net/bikes/BigDummy.jpg Man, that looks like it'll haul a lot of dresses...:D |
The bars are Nitto Albatross...flipped. Plenty of hand positions, including a nice fairly stretched aero position for the flats and into the wind, plus room for my handlebar bag, which always seems to be a challenge with H-Bars or Butterfly bars - and the bend isn't as severe as with Moustache bars..

that bike is rad

This is the best pic I have of my commuter right now.
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...2173_small.jpg Only changes from this photo are 26x1.75 tires instead of the knobbies shown. But this is the bike I ride to work and the store the most as its the only one I have setup for cargo. It's also my wet weather bike. If it's nice and dry out I'll use my Bianchi instead. |
I'd like to have a Big Dummy like yours Chipcom, but I can't justify it over what I ride now. I'm shooting for a cargo bike like the bakfiets for load carry and kid carry.
|
My solution for getting groceries looks like this... I bet it would haul a lot of dresses too.
In it's early phase of building... http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/trailer.jpg |

Chip - My trailer is just waiting for a new deck and has been used a great deal already.
My cost to build it was less than $100.00 and I was lucky to have been given a few sets of wheelchair wheels... it looks like PVC but there is actually a steel frame hidden within that will let the trailer carry at least 200 pounds. |
Below is my latest acquisition leaned up against my cubicle. I just got it a week ago from REI and haven't put a rack on it yet. I am riding with a backpack for now. It's a Cannondale RoadWarrior 2. It's a fast, strong, and comfortable bike. I have ridden over sunken manhole covers, buckled streets, etc and it felt solid throughout. I think I'll be doing everything with this bike, except fetching 100 lbs of groceries.

Looks great, I'd just aim that Superflash a bit better ( I hate cloth blinky loops...)
Have fun riding! |
Wow nice bike chipcom. Maybe when I man up and decide to go grocery shopping by bike I can get something like that. :)
Here's my current whip: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...rk/canoale.jpg |

Your current ride with some panniers will work great for grocery shopping. |
My new ride! First bike in years - decades... This is the 'before' picture, with just the blinkie lights on it. Took this just before I took it up to my apartment and installed the Freddy Fenders, and tonite I'm adding a rack. (Also just testing out my ability to upload pics to this site...)
Novara Forza, bought about 3 weeks ago. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2141/...c786be.jpg?v=0 |

What I`m commuting on now. Cannondale Badboy with slicks, older rockshox and origin8 gary bars. Basically a copy of the old wtb dirtdrops. It`s my mountain bike but I found that the dirt drops are excellent for long rides, 4 different hand positions. Now has a rack as well.

I'm interested in the bar setup. Could you post more views of the bars when you have time? A cockpit view would be awesome. I'm seriously considering getting a pair and your comment about liking the aero position they offer really piqued my interest. How comfortable are they if you hold them at the top rather than the traditional ends? Could you ride like that for a while comfortably? Is the hand/wrist position natural? Would cross levers at the top make it more convenient? |
