I know some might laugh at mine being cheap but it serves me quite well(all that really matters to me). Yes I know I only paid like $120 for my Schwinn Ranger a couple years ago but it has served me very well other than the rear bearings going out.
However I think the older rangers are of a lot better quality than the new ones though. http://www.bsteng.com/pictures/bike.JPG |
I started out on a ranger. I think the only reason you see so many nice bikes posted here, is because we all turned out to be bike junkies! I know I'm constantly tinkering and upgrading my commuter.

Hey, my fixed started out as a free bike and now has more money than I care to think about dumped in it! A bike serving well is what its all about...

Are those Delta Ergo bars or something else? I though the Ergo were mountain bike diameter but I see road components.... I'm so confused :twitchy:

This is one of the most ridden bikes in my herd. She was bought off craigslist for $25. I think I have somewhere around $300 in her now. I believe this is the best setup yet I have done to her. I have only had her since Feb 2008 and she has had 5-6 setups.

Why thank you. Do you ride the single speed on long rides? I have a Fixie and I would not dream of riding it over a 6 mile route. My knees kill me after 2. Plus I would be scared to death bombing down some of these hills in Colorado.:winter:

Descending hills in the winter on a fixed gear is a wonderful experience and the control is amazing. I ride a fixed gear for work (several actually) and have done some fairly long fixed rides and been happy as happy can be with the bike. |
This thread probably has some of the nicest bikes on this forum...
My commute is now a pretty short one and it might take me all of ten minutes to get to work but then I spend the day on my bike working as a courier. This is my primary work bike... The lights come off when I am working (folks WILL steal anything) and there are no QR's on the bike... and I might be one of the only guys on the street rocking a bell. :) The pink toe strap is there to remind me of some very special people. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/messenger1.jpg http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/messenger2.jpg |

Thanks for the compliments, I am in love with it and can't wait to get it finished in the next few weeks. I grabbed those pics when i was out riding around working on a cycling art project(unrealted to the surly pics) and i just thought that i should take advantage of the location and get a few shots off, I was also waiting for it to start raining because i wanted to try out the fenders in rain haha, maybe one of the few times i've been on my bike and wanting it to rain haha More beautiful pics to come in the next few weeks! |
My recently acquired bike. It's Trek 1220, I plan on adding fenders and larger tires.. Most likely will see if 25's fit the fenders. Bike handles great, traded a Trek hardtail MTB for the bike, even swap...

looks great but you should get a prettier stem.

I agree, it's looks like a trip to the LBS is in order for Monday.

Laser Gun Cannondale Commuter
Here's my daily commuter. Got the bike off of craigslist for $100, Cannondale H400, then added the bontrager interchange rear rack, planet bike hardcore hybrid fenders (with cascadia flaps), planet bike 5-blinky rear and 3-led lights, seat pack, aero bars, bell, upgraded the seat (planet bike)... and added the milk crate (Hood Dairy). It's fast and fun! [Note the laser gun LED head light hehe :o)]

My latest craiglist snag for $45.00. Alpine Guadalupe. Nice stout steel frame that handles real good. I washed it up, wd40'd everything and oiled the chain real good. Put on some Kenda tires that I got from Mr Christopher, new brake pads, a comfy mongoose seat that I had in the garage and a Bell led headlight. She's ready to roll! I've been using a backpack to get to work but I think this one's gonna get rack and panniers put on. I like that nice green color to it.
