That Vaya is very close to what I would build for my next commuter. Cool. :thumb:

I'm loving the Backrollers I got for Xmas. Plenty of room for my daily clothes, gear and even some extra space for an impromptu stop at Lowe's on the way home.

whats up guys! noob here! this is my about to be commuter bike.

Just finished putting it together this morning after taking a mountain bike and a cruiser apart to mix and match parts..

here is what she looks like now..

It's so... black! I love it!

You can get custom name decals for your downtube from these guys. They look very good (the decals, I've never met those guys). The decal comes on a film. After applying you let it set for a few minutes then peel off the film and each letter becomes and individual sticker. Letters only, no graphics and they offer around a dozen of various fonts from conservative to funky.

And these guys let you upload your own art. A 8x11 sheet is about $10.50 shipped. You can fit up to 10 long stickers on it or combine your art with what they have.

I had some Xtracycle themed stickers made fro my Big Dummy:

Finally, these guys have some funky environmental, political and bike related stickers.

My Surly Troll commuter

This is my new Surly Troll build up. First time I have built up a frame set. I used mostly Shimano Deore components from a specialized rockhopper I picked up real cheap. Anyhow it rides great! And hold off on the "Holy steerer tube" comments, its not my fault Surly only gives ya a 4.5 inch head tube! A guys gotta do what a guys gotta do!

That's a serious bike! You can go on long loaded tours on that easily, just add a front rack and you're ready for a few weeks long adventure. Nice.

Adam thanks for the info on those stickers. I was wondering how much something like that would cost and how easy it would be to create something custom. Thats really awesome.

Thank you all for the nice replies guys.

I hope that bike will see some gravel and light offroad use too. In fact my intention is to make a week long tour with mixed on/off road touring closer to summer. Right now i'm trying to decide which are the best tyres, maybe the Schable Marathon Extreme or the WTB All Terrain Comp Tyre? I'm lost on that one.

Coque.

I like the "30 Miles per Bagel" sticker.

I want to see one that says "My other car has a V8".

Pretty sure I've posted in this thread already, but time for an updated set of pics.. I've changed panniers and added a few little toys. Here's my commuter.

My "new to me" commuter and my project

Hey guys,

My first post was a couple of months ago about buying a used 2000 Jamis Nova. I had never really commuted to work consistently. Needless to say, I've been commuting 20 miles round trip almost everyday since I bought it.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5134/...ac77329791.jpg

I've also got a new project commuter/urban assault bike in the works. It was a bike I hodge-podged together during college so I'm building it up with better parts on the cheap. It's based off of a free frame and fork I received from a bike co-op that was closing it's door. The frame is a 2002 Raleigh M-50 and the fork is a mid-90's Cannondale Pepperoni. I'll be running drop bars, v-brakes (with Tektro levers), in a 1x9 setup using a kelly take-off and a friction shifter. To add to the unusual factor, I'll also be running 26" x 2.35" Kenda Kiniption tires because I feel like it. It needs a repaint first, but I think I'll probably do a build thread once the project gets rolling!

in 7918 they are Mainstream MSX Avantgarde 55

They are not quite as nice as the Ortleib, but they are half the price and they seem pretty nice to me.
