just my .02€

The car that you see is Honda CRV and my home town is Hat-Yai. It's district in Songkhla Province, Southern part of Thailand. (The combination of hill and sea in Tropical rainforest:))

I recently did a 3 month trip (Bangkok >Siem Reap > Phnom Peng > Chau Doc > HCMC > Mui Ne > Da Nang > Hue > Ha Noi) and I need to get back to SE Asia. I'm looking at a job in Singapore, so there may be time yet to get to southern Thailand!

too late for this post but You have a cool bike

I'd been debating whether or not to get a new commuter; I really wanted one, but didn't absolutely need one. Or so I thought. While at my LBS yesterday, I impulsively asked to try a Jamis Aurora and have really only have been off it since to sleep and eat. Other than changing the tires to Armadillos, everything else is still stock. I stopped by the river today and grabbed a picture with my phone.

It's finished. My daily commuter/pickup truck/hybrid.
The bike is "loaded" right now for the photo op but there is only about 30% of this equipment on the bike at any given time depending on what the plan-of-the-day is.

Been mostly lurking about here for a while too long now. Just cleaned the bikes so time for some pics. Usually take the LHT to work, since it's nicely outfitted, but love days when I can take the Pacer and a small backpack.

The LHT is mostly a stock complete model with the usual stuff. It has Schwalbe Citizen 1.75"s (wish I'd gone Big Apple) B17 Special, 36h Alfine dynamo hub powering Supernova E3 asymmetrical front (aimed up during daytime) and rear lights (usually have a PBSF or 2 and a Minewt X2 going too). Love it but it's heavy and catches tons of wind as-is.

The Pacer is getting a nice saddlebag and dynamo light set up soon too. Already have a set of fenders but they are fun trying to get fitted...

I just like the idea of a LHT. I don't know what I'd do with it but I like the idea.

tdister 07-01-12 11:15 PM

The idea of LHT...I hear you on that. It's more bike than I need most of the time, I knew it would be, but logic wasn't the only factor in the decision to buy it. Got a sweet deal on it from the original owner though and I've long fantasized about having one.

Are they both the same size? I have a 50 LHT and would like to get a Pacer as well. I haven't had any chance to ride many pacers before you don't find many shops stocking them complete. I road a friends 54 and that felt pretty OK on me really, even though it would seem to be a lot larger.

Nice bike, and nice shot of the Hennepin Ave. Bridge & the Grain Belt sign. Way to represent! :thumb:

I've been riding a 1988 stumpjumper comp as a commuter. I got the bike from CL and have done very little to it other than overhaul the bike, change the tires, add platform pedals, and lights. The bike rides great. I'm planning on changing the crank out to make it a 1 x 6 and adding fenders but that's about it:

They are both 54" and fit a bit differently but equally well. The Pacer feels a bit longer but has more (some) drop. I'm 5'10". I could go 56" (and had a hard time deciding with the pacer) pretty easily but preferred the handling of the 54"s (a great deal didn't make my decision hard on the LHT). I haven't regretted going on the smaller end of my spectrum in either case.

My profile says Austin but I'm updating it to Humboldt right now. Will be up your way for the Oregon country fair pretty soon. Can't imagine it would be hard to find one up your way. Portland?

Great ride...though I have be honest with a backdrop like that even a Huffy would look beautiful. I've been to Vegas/Henderson once and look forward to returning for a visit.

Well come on down. At the bottom of the last picture is the black top Lake Mead Parkway. It's about 4 miles of great bike lane to Lake Mead and about 2 miles of MUP to the River Mountain Trail. We'll tale a spin when you get here.
