I don't know what it is about Redline but I've never seen an ugly one.

Still a work in progress with some more things to add (like handlebar wrap), but I've been building up this old Trek over the past week and rode it today to work for the first time. Super comfortable and fits like a glove. I love it already.

My "new" commuter, got it from a coworker when she moved out of town. Still needs a rack and some fenders but it's a nice little bike.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324476

Here is something a little different, just converted from drop bars to VO Milan bars with a painted Salsa stem. I was finding it too hard to get comfortable with the nearly 4" drop from the seat to the drop bars so I figure this will solve the problem. Here is the other bike I have been commuting on, I removed the factory basket handlebar that was installed and put this one on.

Dorf those are two hugely different frame sizes. You ride both of those?
And what model of Schwinn is that? Looks cool. |
Oops just saw your avatar...

When I was in San Diego I rode much more than I do now, I was commuting 4-5 days a week 12 miles each way. When I was doing that I was riding mostly typical road bikes. I have been having a tough time here in South Dakota getting inspired so I decided to get something more laid back so I got the Schwinn City bike and have been enjoying it. After doing some reading I found that I could get some flat bars for the road bike and it wouldn't look atrocious. I really like the feel of them and can't believe I never considered it sooner. Now I am considering doing the same thing to the MX Leader as well but it will be a more expensive proposition. It has Campy 8 speed ergo shifters so I would need to come up with some sort of suitable shifter for the flat bars or down tube levers. The Schwinn is an XL and the Bottecchia is a 62cm.

First post - Here's my daily commuter. I've put about 4000 km on it since taking delivery last summer.
Happy to answer any questions about it. Full album: http://imgur.com/a/iVGYn https://i.imgur.com/msAw8SFh.jpg |

WOW that bike is superb!! Totally retro looking but with many modern components like the brakes. I love that combination - sorta like old muscle cars with modern wheels, brakes, and suspension. :thumb:

I have never heard of a Steelwool brand.

That steelwool is a fabulous commuter! It will look sharp with a classic saddlebag. What you have there is pretty much what I'd love to have. The Alfine 11 with brifters - that is awesome! Disc brakes in Western Washington - that would be so perferct! I think I'd add a wheel with a dynamo hub. Happy rides!!!

gorgeous bike!

It is indeed a lovely bike, although Mr. "TotallyTubular", I'm guesing those Schwalbes are clinchers, I'm just sayin...

No pun intended ;)

Here's my '92 Rockhopper Sport. Built it up with a Deore DX/LX group. '92 Hopper was my first mountain bike so I'm keeping to my roots with this one. Lovin' it.

My new commuter is a 1994 Rocky Mountain Fusion. I just put some Odyssey platforms peddles and some Odi Van's shoe bottom grips.

Nice! I just bought the same bike on Monday. Expect to get the racks & fenders on this weekend. Rode it to work the past two days below freezing. Coworkers thing I'm crazy. I say it beats biking in humidity & heat.

New Commuter

New commuter, as of yesterday. Soma Smoothie, 48 cm. Built with mix of new and old parts: SRAM Rival/Apex, Ritchey Classic cockpit and seatpost, Mavic Aksium wheelset, Conti Gatorskins 700c x 28mm, Specialized Toupe saddle, Shimano SPD-SL pedals, SRAM cork bar tape, Tortec Velocity rack. 8 pound lighter than my Surly LHT, and definitely faster and more fun to ride than the Surly.
