I have Michelin City tires as well. I like them too.

Forgive me father, for I have sinned. It's been nearly 4 years since my last confess... err... commute

Made my bike winter ready this afternoon. As costs are going up I've decided to get back to bike commuting. It's a 40km one-way-ride into the office. Several days of the week I get to carpool, so it will not be a full time commute. Though, even as it's getting colder, I'm looking forward to it.

My 1995 Trek 850 Mountain Track Commuter Bike

I have logged nearly 100 miles on my old Trek 850 Mountain Track since i started commuting (part of my long drive) into work back in late October:

I wish I could ride the all the way from home into work (16 miles), but there is a long, winding 55 MPH 2 lane road that is just too dangerous for cyclists.
I usually park 3 miles from work and ride in on bike paths and side walks. It's a great way to start the day!

Had to do a slight rebuild of this years winter bike to fix a few bugs but she's back up and running, it'll only have the drops for a few more weeks and it's going back to MTB bars so I can put the hydros back on and hit the trails. Have a few chances to use the new nokian (Suomi) extreme 294's the things grip like crazy, just front try and corner fast on pavement.

You neglected to say what your badgeless frame is; with all the bontrager components, I'm guessing Trek? Do they make rigid mtb, or did it start life as a flat-bar commuter of some sort? I like the Orca paint scheme too.

I actually don't know what the brand is, I bought it without any decals used at the local bike co-op, my best guess is Jamis? I bought most the parts as new takes offs from bike shops, eBay etc. it's also my MTB but I don't have any photos of it in that form yet(waiting for forks). I've always like the orca style schemes so I went ahead and did it.

I got a 5' length of 3M Conspicuity reflective tape off eBay for a few bucks, chopped it up and decorated my kittier, so now this is what I will look like from behind in the dark (plus a red blinkie of course)

Try looking for a serial number, mostly they're on the bottom bracket. With that you might be able to track it back to its roots.

Tried that route for a couple of months looked at hundreds of pictures to no avail, I posted to three or four forums every bodies best guess was a Jamis so I'm just going with that.

The first layer is a pair of good all synthetic athletic socks, then a plastic bread bag, then the thick wool socks. My toes got a bit cold, but I don't have show covers yet. My brother-in-law got me some for Christmas. I've been under the weather a bit, so I'll report back after my next ride.

My most recent commuter build. It's a Habanero Ti frame with Mavic Open Pros on Gatorskin 25's and SKS Longboards. I've only had it up and running for a week, but am finding it quite adequate for non ice and snow commutes.

Very nice! I'd be tempted to put bullhorns (handlebars, not real ones, sheesh!) on this beast.

This is my work-end lock-up beater.

Early 90s C'Dale M800 "Beast of the East" with typical cracked off plastic cable guides, 2-3 layers of spray bomb.
- Double chainring (med, low) front shifted by Fox shock lockout switch to Suntour FD.
- 8sp out back shifted by cheap Gripshift to Sachs New Success RD.
- Innova studded tires.
Not shown:
- I bring a clipon rear fender with me, carry stuff in a Chrome backpack.
- Bontrager Flare 1.5 blinky on my helmet; Niterider 350lumen hbar mount.

I can't find studded tires in Birdy folding bike tire size (18"), so I do a two-bike commute, dedicated commuter to the bus station; bus; this bike to work. Once chances of snow and ice are over, this will come back home and resume mtn bike duty.
