White Cannondale road bike Stolen Yesterday
My fault for using a cable lock. The bike was stolen between 3pm - 9pm, and the cable lock w/ helmet was left there. Nevertheless, I would absolutely appreciate having my bike back. Please keep an eye out for an all-white Cannondale with blue decals, blue cables, and blue tires. The road bike is a 6-speed with shimano 105 downtube shifters, and is a 1995 vintage. Last seen in the San Jose State University campus.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!

i had a bike stolen from san jose state univ. it was outside the martian luter king libary, near a secureity camera. i used a cable lock. the securiety guard said someone threw a rock at the camera the previous week. i guess people walk around downtown with bolt cutters. it sucks to study for six hours and find no way home. never did hear from them, nor did i get the bike back.
time to upgrade to a 10speed w/ two u locks, or get a scrachet up, rusted out bike from the 70s or 80s the update the drive train a little.

Dang. Not your fault, you tried to lock it up. Remember if they want to they can jack it no matter what type of lock you've got. The fact that they left your helmet means a "fellow biker" probably had his own helmet and just road off. Maybe the Grinch will steal THEIR Christmas. That sux

I hope you don't make the same mistakes I did. I had a bike stolen from my garage but since I knew it was less than my insurance deductible, I didn't bother reporting the theft. I also misplaced the original sales receipt, and didn't record the serial number. Well, a few months ago, I found my bike for sale at a local bike shop. There's absolutely no doubt it's mine, but the police say I don't have the indisuputable proof they need to recover it. The detective was able to trace it back to a pawn shop. If I had reported the theft, there's a chance I could have recovered it back then.

It's where everyone studies. Kinda. Only when not being disturbed by the noisy high school kids. And parents with their noisy kids. And generally anyone off the street who is there just because it's open to the public. I'm sure that some self-supposed visionary thought it would be great to consolidate the campus library and the public library.
Back on topic, I've eyed- not with interest to steal- the bikes as some of those racks and usually don't see any road bikes though now I've read why.
Have you guys had better luck locking up on those gated bike rack areas? Or do other students with keys to those areas steal components or whole bikes?
