Any DFW guys riding in tomorrow?

If you are you're probably in bed by now and I won't hear from you anyway, but it can't hurt to ask. I stepped outside a few minutes ago and it's pretty nasty. I've been hoping to ride but we'll see what it looks like at about 5am.

By 5am everything will be frozen solid. Be careful out there.

I was hoping it would be clear enough this morning, but it's not close. I helped my wife clear the ice from her car this morning and decided then that I'd have to take the truck today.

Maybe tomorrow...

I didn't have to work today! But if I did, I wouldn't have taken the bike. Took the dawg outside this morning and my street is a solid sheet of ice. Rain I can do, ice is a no go for me.

This makes me want to rig up a set of home made studded tires for the rare ice/snow days we get here.

I didn't go today--I WFH yesterday and today. Of course, I have to say the weather kept me from going to the office yesterday but not from going to the bike shop! Wouldn't have gone anywhere on any wheeled vehicle this morning--it was just too nasty. I will tomorrow though.

I didn't even set foot out of the house today. Just stayed indoors and sipped on hot cocoa all day.

It got better as the day wore on and I thought about riding some but figured I'd hit an ice patch in some shade and off to the hospital.

This DFW girl decided not to commute OR telecommute both Tuesday and Wednesday. Hooky days! Maybe I'll 2-wheel it tomorrow [Thursday] if the streets are dry. I'm ready to get out of the house.

It was actually worse than I expected, so I took the Subaru in. 75 was pretty fun!

Tires are aired up for tomorrow morning. Sorry to have let you down...

I can't blame you for driving, I did the same. It was just too slick everywhere...with studded tires, maybe, but who around here has a set of those sitting around to use maybe twice a year? I'll check out the roads in the morning and hopefully be able to get back in the saddle.

It's dry now except for my front porch but I'm still not gonna ride in tomorrow. I'll drive in.

Hell yeah!
rode every day
threw on the studded tires and cruised on in, no sweat. Well, some sweat, but I overdressed a bit.

If I can't ride my bike I'm not going to drive and risk having the car get hit or slide on the road. Unfortunately none of my current bikes will take studded tires so I've been stuck inside pretty much all week.

Someone's got studs sitting around.

I can't see having studded tires around here. This morning there were still patches of ice, ie my driveway, but for the most part the roads were clear.
If I had a set of studded tires I'd probably keep them on a set of extra wheels so I could easily switch back and forth. Just seems like too much time and expense.

Apparently so.

Acroy, out of curiosity, did you move here from somewhere with more frequent ice and brought the tires along or are you just ultra-prepared and decided to get some for the few days you might need them?

Me too, and maybe my house was just extra warm before I left, but it was deceptively cold on the way in, but it was nice to be riding in again.

Anyone doing the open 100k on Sunday that starts from Richardson Bike Mart (the one that's actually in Richardson)?

For some reason I also thought it seemed really cold. I checked the temp when I got to work and it said 31. Seemed a lot colder that that. Currently 58 so the ride home will be nice!

+1.

I left home at about 6:30 and it was 27. My clothes where okay but I could have dressed better. Too many layers on my core, extremities were a little too cold. I can't say that overall I was too cold, but that I wasn't comfortable.

This afternoon will be great though.
