Nexus8/Alfine Brifter Availability Info

Via a web search I found the manufacturer in Taiwan for the Nexus/Alfine IGH brifter featured on the Dynamic road bike discussed here recently. The manufacturer is Sussex Taiwan.

http://www.sussex.com.tw/

I emailed them regarding availability of the brifter in the U.S. They forwarded my email to Dymamic Bicycles, apparently currently their only U.S. importer. Dynamic replied that no decision has been made whether or not to make the brifter available here as a separate item from the bike.

If members are interested in obtaining the brifter by itself then I suggest letting Dynamic Bicycles know. My email was from Patrick Perugini at Dynamic Bicycles.

nice work tatfiend, I'm emailing 1) to dynamic to sell the shifter as an accessory, 2) to sussex to ask them to sign up with another distributor who won't hog the component, and 3) keeping an eye on European bike sites and possibly have one shipped from over there (done this many times).

Per an email received from Mr. Perugini this afternoon Dynamic will most likely be making the shifter available here. Time frame mentioned is late spring or early summer. Maybe they were contacted by enough readers of my original post to realize that there is enough demand for it to make offering it worthwhile.

That shifter looks identical to one of the ones offered by Microshift, who are also in Taiwan. Compare this photo to the SB-R102C_B2 model on this page.

I guess I'm missing something. Looks like the shifter is for 10spd, not 8spd igh.

Yep, the other one is definitely 10spd - there is certainly something different about the internals to make it have eight positions and the correct cable pull. I just found it interesting that the externals were identical to another brand of shifter.
