Fred is everywhere on my commute.
I see Big-butt-Fred and his man boobs in spandex and cheerleader jersey. Out-of-the-Closet-Fred rides up besides me and asks for my sign. Lance-Wannabe-Fred gets angry and frustrated as I pass him on his going 14mph on the bike path. I see Millionaire-Fred with his Trek carbon fiber bike and his yellow team captain jersey pressing the crosswalk on the sidewalk next to me. I see Weekend-Recreational-Fred walking around the supermarket with a cart full of stuff and in his road shoes and helmet, glasses and gloves on.
FRED FRED FRED FRED!!! YAY!!!
FRED FRED FRED FRED!!! YAY!!!

Oh, sometimes I see Recumbent-Fred. He is a bit stuck up because he is riding a expensive unique type of bike but he doesn't like all the weird looks and is agry that people think he is lazy.

Geez nexus, you seem to only like certain types of cyclists and anyone who doesn't fit your ideal profile is a FRED. What they heck is your problem? At least people are out riding.
I wonder how you'd classify me. Should I tell you my style of riding and bike?

The Freds couldn't care less. They're laughing at you for caring so much.

What a strange thread for the Commuting Forum… I won’t speak for others, but I for one am proud of being a Fred… As a Fred I’m free… I can look how I want, ride what I want, and how fast I want, and accessorize my bike like I want, without fear of not fitting in with the ever changing fashions of cycling… Congito Fred, ergo sum Fred…

Let's not forget Nexus Fred, he's full-o-fail and don't even know it.

"The path of the righteous commuter is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish cager and the tyranny of evil roadies. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the newbie cyclist through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the builder of ridiculously bright DIY halogen bicycle lights. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brother commuter. And you will know I am the Fred when I lay my vengeance upon thee..."
