Tire Tube Combo

Any suggestions as far the tire/tube/liner combo that gives lots of flat protection and still rides fairly smooth?

Haven't spent much time on the bike for a long long time so I have to re-educate myself on lots of stuff.

Thanks much

Keith

What size tires and what bike do you ride?

Tire Size

700C Road bike and also a cyclocross bike are my main riders.

I experimented with a heavier tire w/liner set up in my mtn bike and its rides like a tank. Theres got to be a better way.

Input is much appreciated!!

I used to have constant flats riding the urban grit of the Oakland/Berkeley areas. Sometimes three in a single day. Broken glass and who knows what all were killing me. Switched to Armadillo tires (kevlar?) and now I'm pretty much flat free with no dicernable difference in weight or feel. Still the occasional flat, less than once a week though. That I can live with.

Conti GatorSkins or 4 Seasons with Vectran have been good to me.

There are a number of "bullet proof" tires out there: Armadillos, GatorSkins, Marathons, etc. They're all pretty good against urban rubble, are fairly heavy, and difficult to mount.

I have Armadillos (Specialized) and they seem to stand up to everything along my suburban/urban commute without any liners.
