wish me luck

I'm going to try my commute for the first time since September. I have had a terrible winter, first it was both achilles tendons flaming me and then my knees gave me the business and two weeks ago it was an infection in that certain part of a mans body that tends to give us trouble as we get older. No I don't have a social disease but it was truly painful. That seems to have passed and the achilles no longer hurt so for better or worse at 4:15 am I'm hopping on the Volare and going to work. Like I said please wish me luck

From Sumner north to Auburn its only 7 miles but should be enough to tell me if the achilles are going to act up. I'm really nervous about it. I don't want to hobble around all summer too.

Well the good news is that I made it home with no discomfort in the achilles tendons. The bad news? I felt like a slug but it was fun on the way home nice easy pace and its all good

Good on ya! I have awful plantar fasciatis and sometimes in the morning my achilles burn like hell. I feel ya. FWIW, working with a foam roller makes it better when I stick with it for a few days, which I almost never do. :-/

Good job. I know about feeling like a slug. Between some severe family stress and some winter sickness my fitness level has bottomed out. I've been running my cx bike with electric kit for my 18mile round trip commute. Of course, the studded tires and other add-ons lesson the electric assist. Last week I rode my Fuji and just about bonked fighting 15mph headwinds with 40mph gusts on the trip home.

Again - great job, get plenty of rest, and build up that strength.

I really missed riding its my therapy and stress reducer. I don't have to take the anti anxiety meds when I start to ride in the Spring and as soon as I stop riding usually after daylight savings time ends which coincides with the coming of the grey Pacific Northwest fall and winter then I have to take them. I bought a Happy light by verilux so next winter I'm gonna be ready for it. I also take a vitamin D supplement and that has helped some this year. I think I'll be fine as long as I don't go nuts and over do till I build stamina. It usually takes me about three of regular riding to get to where I don't feel like I'm trying to pedal a Mack truck. Thanks for the words of encouragement
