Looking for a rear basket to go on my rack

Hey everyone. Looking for a little help here. I want to get a rear basket for my rack, since it's gets super hot and humid here in the spring and summer (backpack means back sweat.) Thing is, I want a good looking basket that one might see on a vintage bike.

I can't describe it so well, but I have seen baskets with low sides and wood bottoms that look really nice. I assume they are almost always used in conjunction with straps or bungee chords to make sure this stay in since the low sides.

Any info or links to something like this is appreciated. And if it matters, I have a road bike, not a hybrid.

thanks

If you're planning to bungee it on to the rack, I'm assuming you're looking for something not made for a bicycle rack. When I was looking for something similar for my bike, I just went to various department and discount stores looking for regular, wicker and wooden baskets. Walmart, Target, TJ Max, Big Lots all had baskets that had potential to fit the bill.

I ended up with a plastic, collapsible basket I found at Lowes. Not as "classic" looking as the wooden and wicker options, for sure, but I used p-clamps to attach it to my rack and found that with the basket folding up, I could often transport the bike in the car without removing the basket.

No, I meant using the bungee to keep things in the basket, not to keep the basket on the bike.

Rivendell has wire baskets. No wood bottoms though.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. If it's any help the front basket on the bike in the attachment is what I'd like to get, but for a rear rack (or similar). I took this image from the townie thread in the ss/fg forum:

Just saw this one at REI, looks like a workable solution. It does not have the classic lines of the one in the pic but does look nice.

Possibly a bit late in coming to this, but there is a basket here that might fit your needs

Try these;
https://waldsports.com/index.cfm/baskets.html
https://www.waldsports.com/index.cfm/...rcarriers.html
https://www.waldsports.com/index.cfm/...ingbasket.html
https://www.waldsports.com/index.cfm/...earbasket.html

I have a pair of the 582, folding baskets and love them! Since I also use saddle bags I do not bother with the fasteners to keep the bags on the rack, I use cable ties and just cut them off when I have to switch.

I think that may actually be the rack.

this model actually slides on and off of a Blackburn-size rear rack:

It's a snug fit, but workable.
