Driving

I've been afforded the luxury of the option to drive to work at my leisure.

Today, I drove all the way downtown and parked in a $3.50 spot.

As I was getting ready for bed tonight, I thought, "Let's see...I have clean clothes for work, the time is such-and-such o'clock, and if I drive tomorrow, I'll only need "X" number of hours/minutes sleep...

...No figuring if my bike is ready, biking gear clean to wear, batteries charged, weather report digested. After all, I wasn't going to ride in the rain tomorrow, anyway, so...

And if I take the bus/train, I have to leave even earlier than I do on my bike.

Sheesh! Is this the lazy life all drivers live with everyday?

(What about the calories? Where will they all go???!!! )

You just wait until you have a bad day and have no stress release on the way home. That's when you'll really miss the bike.

They don't go anywhere. They're stored up for later.

This is clearly some plan to stop you making them all feel bad about themselves for not cycling. Don't fall for it! It's a slippery slope...

I don't have a choice Pete. My car sits in my driveway with a flat tire and a dead battery from the lack of use. Besides I cancelled my insurance last year. Luckily I live so close to work. If I had to walk to work, I could get there in 24 minutes.

Mine doesn't make expensive noises, just a "drip, drip" of tranny
fluid on my foot!

That's a slipping danger when walking, no?

Man, I would walk sometimes...

(24 minutes is almost perfect for walkin'.)

For that to happen, you've either got some really big feet and one heck of a transmission leak.

You know, if you start motoring regularly, one of these days you're going to LOOK THE WRONG WAY at one of these BIKE FORUMS types, and then's when you will regret the day you ever put your foot on a gas pedal!

Even if I walk at a fast rate to work I barely break a sweat. Sometimes I'll be sweating when I arrive at work if while cycling I've raced an 18-wheeler from the stop light down the hill to the entrance of my office building; if I take it easy getting to work I have nothing to worry about.

I think I'd be discouraged sometimes if I lived 14 miles from work.

Well, now my older car ("mine," according to wife) resembles an alley cat more and more. Driver side window frozen shut, passenger door opens from outside only (useful for giving hitchhikers a scare ,) lovely fuel aroma and "drip, drip, drip."
