Who's riding in snowy Boston tomorrow? I'll bet there will be a few.

I'm so sick of this mess though... March is around the corner but there is still no signs of warming up.. :twitchy: |
I will be. I managed to miss only 3 days of commuting this winter but it's been a rough winter. I had to take my rear Nokian 1.9 studded tire off the other day- I finally trashed the side wall riding it underinflated when I got a slow leak on the ride home the other night. So I'll have a studded tire on the front and a kind of beefy 1.5 slick on the back.

I'll be riding tomorrow. We had rain in the afternoon, turning to snow in the evening. I'm right around I-495 and route 2, so not quite Boston, but close.

I'll ride my folder to the train and then across town when in Boston!
|
I'm riding... though it looked like it only rained last night. The roads look like they might be icy though. We'll see how it is when I get out there. I've been rather skittish about ice since taking my first ice related fall earlier this winter :o

Hey all!
It's nice to see so many people from Boston on the forum. I am new here. I just picked up a bike to start commuting to work. (I work near Copley sq. in Back Bay) At Cambridge Bicycle over the weekend, I bought the white SE Lager. Rode this 3.6 miles home and sat down with legs of jello....this is going to take time to get used to. I dont think I'm ready for the full commute into Boston and back yet! Anyway, it's nice to see so many of you from around here! |
Brighton definitely got snow last night. I ran into a little bit of ice in a few spots this morning, but nothing bad. I'll just be glad when all the salt and dirt are finally washed away for the season.

Very windy in Taunton today. No snow at all. Winter kind of left on Groundhog day here in the south.
|
There was a quarter inch of ice all over in Watertown. I let my dog pull me on her walk this morning and decided to stick with running/sliding to work. It got better as I got closer to the city at least.
|
inanevoyage - WELCOME!
re: "sat down with legs of jello" Keep practicing. It'll be easier than you think especially when we get the roadway back, meaning: shoulders. Then in the spring they actually use street sweepers and clean the shoulders! WooHoo! |
If I were there. I'd be out ridin' in it. No choice.
|
It's so windy I want aero bars on my flat bar hybrid!:(

rode home in the rain yesterday (on the cape) a good number of icy patches on the way in this morning but they were visible from a good distance. If the wind stays out of the west i'll even take the long way home tonight

I don't think it's a case of me noticing it more because of the cold. I've got my layering down pretty well and the cold doesn't bother me that much. Today was pretty windy (again). |

Is it just me, or is winter significantly windier around here than other seasons? This is my third winter commuting, and I really think there are more consistently high winds in winter than in spring, summer, and fall.

February has been super windy in the Philly area too! I can deal with the frigid temps, but the wind makes me feel like I'm riding with the brakes (breaks for some) on! |

Wow. You guys are braver then me. I'm south of Worcester and the only riding I've been doing this winter is on the trainer in the basement. I love winter as I do a lot of skiing, but I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather to really start hitting the road.
As a side note, are any of you riding in the PMC this year? |

We've been having rough weather since last summer -- if you'll remember, we had a ton of thunderstorms. Boston is also the windiest city in the US. Even when it's not windy, you get the onshore breeze in the AM and offshore breeze in the PM -- headwind both ways for those of us riding into downtown!
