A serious reply: Maybe there's some middle ground between beating someone for touching your bike and "getting walked on". Like, you could still succeed at life without beating up a dude for messing with your bike. It's a strange thought, I know.

Actually, I went to school with one of George Foreman's sons, dated George Steinbrenner's granddaughter, and lived next door to the prince of Kuwait. I find it interesting that you are so thin-skinned as to consider your opinion under attack when someone points out that chest-thumping isn't a defense to changes of assault in a court of law -- and that you have the crust to call someone else "condescending" immediately after making an infantile jape about someone's nick and a mere sentence after using "ladies" as a term of disparagement.

Neither did they. The school was military based - uniforms and marching, but as far as punishment, it wasn't very military. The idea was to teach discipline, respect and honor - things that, as a current public school teacher, I see very little of.

As for the poor guys that are fearful of tampering, I reiterate: Log complaints with security, do a thorough safety check of your bike before leaving work and place your bike where security can see it.

Also you might want to let everyone in the office know that "funny things" have been going on with your bike and that if anyone notices anything to contact security as they take these matters seriously. Do this casually, say, at the water cooler or over the coffee pot. You don't need to sound the alarm but let it be known that you are aware of the situation and so is security. That should make the tampering party think twice about screwing with your bike again.

Lighten up Francis

I've had several instances of a tire deflating while sitting in the garage or at work. Usually shortly after having been installed or aired up. Process of elimination points to the valve stem not properly seating.

Guess I'm just not as trigger happy.
