Nobody anymore has respect for anyone anymore, and it drives me insane. What happened to opening doors for people, saying excuse me, not swearing at people during rush hour, allowing people to go before you, etc? It's all gone, and it's inexcusable. Sorry, but to me, respecting someone and their property is more important than walking away and looking like a weak fool.

Not everyone was in reform school........

I'm not sure a high school drill instructor is the person I'm going to take "life success" advice from.

A serious reply: Maybe there's some middle ground between beating someone for touching your bike and "getting walked on". Like, you could still succeed at life without beating up a dude for messing with your bike. It's a strange thought, I know.

Edit because I forgot we're on the internet and as internet males we're supposed to just threaten to hand out beatings left and right.

Did this Rhodes Scholar also instruct you in the art of the false dichotomy?

Nor was I. Ever heard of Culver Academies? www.culver.org

It's the kind of place where the best of the best send their kids. Actually, I went to school with one of George Foreman's sons, dated George Steinbrenner's granddaughter, and lived next door to the prince of Kuwait. Actually, John McCain's son was kicked out a year or so ago for stealing fire extinguishers.

Reform school? I don't think so.

And though he wasn't a Rhodes scholar, I was taught by four of them while there. To top that off, out of thirty teachers, twelve were phD's...

Interesting, that seems kinda like what I said in my last two posts, doesn't it?

Get a grip ladies, it's only the internet.

ETA: Batty, I find it interesting that you are so condescending to me and my opinion, having the signature that you do...

Oh, I thought that was Exeter, or one of the other schools that didn't impose military discipline on teens....

Really? I find it interesting that you are so thin-skinned as to consider your opinion under attack when someone points out that chest-thumping isn't a defense to changes of assault in a court of law -- and that you have the crust to call someone else "condescending" immediately after making an infantile jape about someone's nick and a mere sentence after using "ladies" as a term of disparagement.

mickey85 03-05-09 09:01 AM

Neither did they. The school was military based - uniforms and marching, but as far as punishment, it wasn't very military. The idea was to teach discipline, respect and honor - things that, as a current public school teacher, I see very little of.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand...

Now who's thin skinned? ;) I'm out of this thread. I made a comment, I clarified, yet nobody seemed to want to listen to the clarification, instead calling me a chest-thumping monkey. To each his own, and if you choose to choose your own facts, so be it.

Yeah, what was that again?

Oh yeah, I remember, it was about plotting the extermination of those who would dare to play a practical joke.

I didn't even have an allen wrench on hadn to fix it.

I got him back though by putting his quick release skewers on the drive side of his bike.

I had decided that this thread had devolved to the point where there could be no more worthwhile comments until I got to this one. Thank you for that.

Whoops! Maybe I should have phrased that 'Thinking Person'.

I suppose I could go on ad nauseum explaining the defense of my text, however those who saw it for what it is have already done so. I can't, however, resist pointing out how someone's misogynistic interpretation never fails to expose their own misandristic thinking. I'm amused, but not necessarily surprised, that in this instance said interpretation derives from a woman who's adopted an abbreviated form of "kitten" as their forum identity. That just seems to punctuate this perfectly.

Replica of 'Thinking Man'? Glad to see you have a wonderful sense of irony. I'd say the forum has devolved into these two men: :fight:

An amateur pisser is one who pisses for the sheer joy of pissing, without receiving payment, so I think we all qualify.

Phrenetis 03-05-09 12:33 PM

Too many up tight people here.

Get over yourselves. Learn to take life a little less serious.

About the tire thing, tell security or your speak with your boss about it. Plenty of good advise here saying to do that.

Do you really think pissing is an acceptable way to deal with life? Big tough dude, pissing everywhere... sheesh.

Well I'm pissing with a Tom Jones circa 1979 kinda flair, so no one should be offended. I like to think of myself more like a national Icon, akin to Calvin. My pissing will charm your pants off(that's where my professional pisser angle comes into play).

Bat22 03-05-09 03:38 PM

Well that's a wicked pissa!:)

KitN 03-05-09 09:50 PM

Noteon, you are my personal hero!

Ziemas, my moniker on these forums is short enough for you to easily use it. "KitN". See! It's really that simple. :)

As for the poor guys that are fearful of tampering, I reiterate: Log complaints with security, do a thorough safety check of your bike before leaving work and place your bike where security can see it.

Also you might want to let everyone in the office know that "funny things" have been going on with your bike and that if anyone notices anything to contact security as they take these matters seriously. Do this casually, say, at the water cooler or over the coffee pot. You don't need to sound the alarm but let it be known that you are aware of the situation and so is security. That should make the tampering party think twice about screwing with your bike again.

Good luck! :thumb:

Suggestions?

I suggest shrugging it off like an adult.
You think this is related to some lady a year ago?...seriously?

One of you is a weirdo.

I'm guessing it's probably him. He really showed you though.....his master plan of finally unleashing his vengeance upon you after a year of carful thought really payed off.
Letting the air out.....genius.

I recommend some pointing and laughing.

I'd read about it on this forum, but today it happened to me -- a co-worker let the air out of my rear tire.

I've had several instances of a tire deflating while sitting in the garage or at work. Usually shortly after having been installed or aired up. Process of elimination points to the valve stem not properly seating.

Guess I'm just not as trigger happy.
