Those shimano double sided mtb clippless/flat pedals. I absolutely love 'em. I use the cycling shoes for nice weather exercise rides, and regular shoes for everything else.

twoflats, do you have a shot of the bottom of the shoes you wear with those time's, how walkable are they?

XT M770 SPDs on the Scott Sub 20. The rest are non-SPDs. I have a vintage MKS Quill 2k on my Columbia (love em), removable MKS Promenades on my foldies.

Platform BMX pedals.... I just put a pair of cages on, but they are too small. I wear Doc Martin shoes to work and they are way to big for the toe cage. Anyone know of a toe cage that will fit boots?

They were easy enough to get into and out of, but I didn't like the fact that I had to wear the special shoes, and the performance wasn't any better than it is with the platforms I use now. Even in driving rain, up out of saddle cranking hard up a steep hill, my feet have never once slipped off these pedals. |
I recently switched from SPDs to Speedplay Frogs -- they take some getting used to but are far superior in my book. Tons of float to help my knees; super easy to click in and out (no actual spring to fight against), and lots of clearance.

Double-sided mountain SPDs, but I'm building a cheap, casual town/bar bike with a 3 speed hub and platforms and It'll replace my FG road bike for the short distances I usually travel.
I like clipless so much more than clips & straps around stoplights, but for my 3 mile commute they're both aggressively unnecessary |
Depending on the bike, 1 gen looks or 1 gen time racing pedals.

mks Gr-9, soma quad gate clips, toshi doubles. best combo i've ever run on my FG

Double sided. One side is platform and the other is SPD.
http://bike.shimano.com/publish/cont...bm.512.384.gif I generally use the platforms. They're a good platform pedal but you have to learn to flip the pedal every time. It's easier than you'd think. I just point my toe down. |
I ride MKS touring pedals.....

Really like the rivendell BK pedal with sandals.
http://www.rivbike.com/images/produc...pair-thumb.jpg http://www.rivbike.com/search/run?qu...product=14-053 I've got 1000's of miles on mine, no complaints. |

Junk platforms + straps that I picked up from the LBS for about $15, and these, which are probably my favorite casual (i.e. non-cycling specific) cycling shoes ever:

Time Atac ROC for me. I've been using them all winter and they've performed very well.

I use Look Keo Classic pedals.

Nashbar Cage Pedals for me:
http://www.nashbar.com/images/nashba...-NCL-ANGLE.jpg I never have to worry about the "right" side being up when I'm hopping on in traffic, and they grip all of my shoes (dress, casual, and running) securely--I can't imagine ever slipping off of them. If I ever get myself a dedicated road bike I might--might go clipless, but these are perfect for my commute. |

Crazy light, very grippy, not cheap. Empirical evidence suggests that women are less likely to speak to you when you wear bike shoes with street clothes. |
My commuter is also my around-towner; I don't always want to use clipless shoes, so I use the Performance Forte Campus SPD/flat dual-sided pedals: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...slisearch=true

Currently I have MKS Sylvans, clips, double straps.
I used to ride with eggbeaters but got tired of wearing my mtb shoes all the time. Soon I'll be riding SPDs most likely. |

I made the commute this morning with toe clips on platforms, after 3 years of SPDs. Honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference. About the same trouble to get in/out of, and felt pretty much exactly the same when riding. I know that means I wasn't using the SPDs like the awesome performance athlete that I should wear team kit to pretend I am, but I guess that's just how it goes.
I'll probably keep rolling with the toe clips, so I don't have to bother with special shoes when I just want to noodle around the neighborhood. |
I use the Grip King platform pedals from Rivendell. I don't own cycling shoes nor do I intend to purchase them. For riding in my suburban environs, with plenty of stops, starts and assorted traffic controls, it works for me. I tried using a platform with a toe clip but found that with some of the shoes I wear, my dexterity with getting the pedal aligned and shoe inserted into the toe clip was cumbersome, especially when crossing a street at a traffic light (when I just want to get up to speed and not get run over.)
