I've got the same pannier as the Newbie, and my body isn't entirely dissimilar, but I dress and ride more like the Weekday World Champ.

Somewhere between safety first and hardman.
Do you have any idea how many times guys with trucks have pulled up beside me and asked if i need a ride when I'm commuting in a blizzard?
And as for being safety-first, I ride a bike that is covered in reflective tape, with three blinkies, and two headlights, and i wear a reflective safety vest.
I'm probably closer to the safety first weenie than I am to hardman, although of course I'd like to think of myself as the hardman. Nobody is more hardcore than hardman! GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Reading 'the newbie' bit, and even seeing the photo, made me a tad uncomfortable so thats probably the closest one to the truth with bits of the public transport (still maintain a 9m round trip) and safety first thrown in. I look uncool in legendary fashion apparently.

I don't wear anything on my back, ever.
I do ride a road bike, wear a helmet and the bright color shirt and/or jacket, as well as the rest of "the outfit". When commuting, I have a bag hanging off of my drop bars and another on the cross bar, but I do not have a rear bag set-up.

Amusing, but he's missed quite a few.
None of the above.

Guess I most closely resemble The Hardman, even though I don't bike commute to work anymore (work is only two blocks from my apartment). I do ride year-round though, and people are always telling my that I'm nuts for doing so.

I don't fit into any of those categories, darnit! I was so happy when I saw the title "Glamour Girl" but then was appalled when I read it. The clothes fit but the rest doesn't!
I'm the girl braving NYC streets on a folding bike with 16" wheels in 4" stilettos, skinny designer jeans, no helmet, taking the lane in front of a pissed off cabbie yelling obscenities at me behind a huge NYC bus, dodging potholes, crazy peds and standing and mashing on the pedals (yes, in the above mentioned stilettos).
I have Bluetooth headphones and I NEVER talk on the phone while cycling even though I can remotely answer the call through my Bluetooth headphones. (The headphones are for music or, God forbid, a life or death situation when I absolutely have to call for help.)
I NEVER, EVER ride on the sidewalk. I hate to say it but I'm a goodie-two-shoes. I obey traffic laws, stop at lights/stop signs and yield to peds. Sure, it adds time to my commute but I'm making a point and being a good role model so that cycling here gets some respect.
I ride winter, spring, summer and fall. Through snow storms, freezing rain, ice, wind storms and heat. Don't let the "girly-girl" clothes and demeanor fool you. I'm as determined as a pitbull.

I guess a bit of hardman + safety first. I commute year round regardless of weather, and I have lots of reflective gunk, Dinotte lights and always wear a reflective vest.
I certainly don't fit well into most of the categories, since I am totally happy with a cheap bike, and I don't really give a darn how fast I am.
I don't bother carrying water unless the temps are > 85*F though.

I would be a utilitarian if there was such a category. If it isn't functional then I don't really want it. Although, I do have to admit that I have one of those Japanese brass bells on my bike. I use it sometimes but not very often. It's more of a fun sort of thing.

OK, how about this:
Utilitarian Cyclist
The Utilitarian Cyclist can be recognized by his plaid short sleeve button-up shirt and khakis with the right pant leg rolled up. Sandals or cheap tennis shoes are the footwear of choice. You'd never guess it, but that odd-looking bike with its funky basket cost more than Weekday World Champ's Roubaix. Rarely travelling more than 5 miles from home, the Utilitarian Cyclist is convinced that there's no reason to ever use a motorized vehicle.
Ever!

I look like the DUI guy, although I do have a car and driver's license. I would probably be the hardman if the bus wasn't such a convenient alternative in bad weather.

Sadly, I look like the newbie. Well, as far as the "gear" and clothing.
This will change.
I hope.
