I've been thinking about getting one but not sure if they are sturdy being mounted only on the V-brake bosses.

Can they be mounted without V-brakes if you are running disc?

I have that rack from E-Bay, be careful..I got mine and it only had one of the angled supports not two so I think they are seconds (should still work for light loads) I would go to Nashbar to buy again....I think you could use hefty P clips or make your own to work on a fork without canti/v-brake mounts....

I have one from Nashbar. If you aren't running V brakes but still have the hook ups, it probably would install fairly easily. Mine came with a couple of screws for the V brakes, but they were extra long to accommodate the brakes as well. If you're bike doesn't have brake bosses at all, you'll have to get creative.

I like the rack. It's not heavy duty, but it's come in handy a number of times. And if I wasn't running V brakes, I might be willing to load it up even more, because if it broke, it wouldn't take my brakes with it.

I have that rack (purchased from Nashbar.) Here's the scoop:

It mounts to the canti studs and the fork crown.
It's about big enough to hold a 6-pack.
The suggested weight limit is 15 pounds and I've had up to 30 pounds on it for short trips (under 3 miles.)
The struts don't really leave much option for mounting w/o canti studs. If you want a front platform rack that will be stable to mount w/o canti studs, check out the Velo-Orange Randonneur front rack. Heavy gauge fork tang and longer struts designed to mount to either eyelet mounts or p-clips at the fork blades. It also has 4 mount eyelets on the platform rail which are perfect for securing a cargo net or mounting headlights out of the way.

Berthoud makes a rack that uses the low-rider front rack attachment points, if your bike has them.

I have the Nashbar front rack too. It was cheap, light and works great. Mounts at the studs.

My fork is a rigid with v-brake studs but no fork brace that you see on suspension forks. I didn't know Nashbar carries one. I'll look.

If your fork has a hole at the crown for mounting brakes or fenders, that hole will work for mounting the Nashbar Rack.

I think it is ment for supporting a basket. I use one on my front suspension MTB and put a basket on it. Put my lights under the basket.

I have a front disc and the use the rack. But my fork has v-brake mounts, so I just stuck some studs in there and mounted just fine. My rack didn't come with the correct bolts though. My studs take 6mm bolts, so that was a bit of a hassle.
