I hate sand

They haven't even started street sweeping here yet. There are gigantic patches of road-sand leftover from winter, and it's everywhere. I've got 27" Gatorskins at 92psi, and let me tell you, hitting a patch of the stuff while going around a corner at speed is a recipe for grey hair. It's like Motocross: plant your foot, kick off to get you back upright and to keep your forward momentum, and hope you don't just fall over the other way and die.

today I was behind double street sweepers, (2 working like snow plows), I would complain about them holding me up but they were going too fast and the shoulder was actually visible again! I was wondering what I would have done if I had caught up them

sand is the devil. Took my road bike to biloxi, ms and its man made beaches down there. Whats wrong with a man made beach you ask? When they forget to make sand dunes and a southern wind covers the roads with this nice pretty sand they trucked in. Day 2 was so bad I had to ride my mountain bike instead of the roadie. Sand sucks

Lots of sharp glass, rocks, and little metal bits in sand around here too. I get most of my flat tires from riding through sandy patches to stay out of traffic.

They finally got the sweepers out in Redmond to clean up the sand and cinders on most of our roads. WooHoo!
