Decent commute on the way home from school. 51F with some mist and head winds from the NE @ 11mph. Less than a 1/2 mile from home on my road, i was chased by a small dog. The chase lasted for a whole 10 feet and then the dog gave up and went back the house where it came from.

68f Sunny. 1246 miles to date. After a rough February and the summer-like temps expected for the end of the week. Now’s a good time to clean that drivetrain. Clean your chain once a month.

Back riding after two days of rain, probably could have ridden yesterday but homeward would have been a bit risky because of rain. Tonight though the sky was clear and at 8PM I could see the tail end of the the day for the first time this year. We have had lots of rain and on the way to work I changed my route to avoid flooded roads only to find even more flooding. Much warmer temps today and tonight, even more comfortable then I expected. I'm loving it, after months on idleness I'm back on the bike and getting much needed exercise. I road home for the first time using my new lights; MagicShine 1400. I ordered a new bracket/handle bar mount, I'll give my impressions of the lights and the mount once I have used them for a little while. Oh, and best of all my new bike arrived today, the one replacing my accident ride. Will assemble tomorrow and maybe ride for the first time to work. More details to follow.

A little cloudy on the way into the city for my shifts, made more stops than usual on my 45km run in but the weather was great compared to last week, even the cagers were cheerful.. :)

A good spring moring, no rain and no wind, at 4 C ( 40 F). Yesterday, I finnally caught up to a fellow who has been commuting in and around the same area as I. I usually only catch a glimpse of the back of him, as I come down a hill to a red light. I left 5 minutes earlier, and I happened to see him come out of a side road. I stopped for the left turn to get over the interchange as we both do, and he caught up. As we said some plesantries, the light changed, and we crossed the bridge. He went left into a trail system, going south, and I continued straight north. It's nice when you get to hook up with like minded folks, however briefly.

Tough commute yesterday with headwinds both ways, although it was sunny with warm temps. Today is starting very well. Very light winds so I made great time riding work, despite the coldest morning temps of the week (44 F). We should see a 40-degree swing in temps today as the afternoon high is supposed to be in the mid-80s. Don't you just love spring?

Yesterday I had to brake downhill because a Subaru WRX was moving too slowly. I wanted to yell at him to get on the sidewalk. :P Today I walked 2.5 miles to the bus. Beer after work! Going to be a gorgeous day. Two young women put their bicycles onto the bus's bike rack. I don't know why they didn't ride. It's 3 or 4 flat miles into town, where they got off. Maybe a mechanical issue?

Easy-peasy commute this morning with a strong tailwind.
The wind direction isn't changing during the day, and it ain't gonna ease up. :twitchy: |
Great Commute this morning...51 degrees, 5 mph tailwind most of the way.....averaged almost 19 mph over 30 miles (even counting the stops at traffic lights.....tough one tonight.....15-20mph headwind expected almost the whole way, but a temp near 75 will make it more enjoyable:)

Wife and I commuted this morning. Very overcast, humid, and a little wind in the high 40's but it should be gorgeous this afternoon on the way home. Q loved his trailer on the way into daycare, seemed awestruck to be out and about. Wife complained that she needs to get into shape, but she still made decent time.

60F this morning , forecast is for 80f. 20 degrees above normal. There's some warming I can believe in! :)
The fair weather commuters are back out. I was passed by the fellow with the Specialized again. He maintains about 22-23 mph. |
Beautiful day 60 deg. with a headwind part way but I enjoyed it all the same. Should be nice again tonight riding home. Tomorrow I hope to get the new bike on the road, just have a few more things to adjust and away I go. By the way I used my MagicShine 1400 for the first time last night and it worked great. I expect it will be even better once I convert the handlebar mount, then I'll be able to angle it just a bit to the right. A lot of cars were turning their high beams on as they approached, not sure if it was because the light was in their eyes ,that usually doesn't happen?

Trying to get back in the rhythm.
Between weather, after work errands, they wife and kid passing the plague back and forth and me having just a tad of what ever the hell they have been sharing but not going into it full blown but staying out of the cold so as not to exasperate it and now allergies kicking in early I just have had everything working against me. I had to ride today. Just soo nice I had to get out in it. Loved it. |
BTW, whaddy'all say we start this thread over each January 1 to help it load faster and keep the length down?
----- The commutes both days were 2/3 by bus, 1/3 by bike (3 miles). Still trying not to aggravate a nagging wrist injury too much. Yesterday's temps were quite pleasant, today was quite hot. Next weekend I drop my bike off at my LBS for new handlebars that'll let me sit upright therefore putting less weight on my wrist. |
Rode the race bike to work today, hoping I'll be able to get out of here in time to make the Thursday night group ride.
|
Getting back into commuting mode... Actually commuted to work (4) times this week. (20 miles each way.) Felt great despite fighting severe headwinds in the afternoon. Especially today! I guess that it's the price to pay for enjoying the nice subtle tailwind in the morning...
|
It's spring! After a rainy start to the week, this afternoon was warm and sunny so I threw the jacket in rear basket, and took off in full fred mode w/ pannier on one side and basket on the other. Decided to ride through Central Park where I won the "Race You Didn't Know You Were In" against a couple on roadies.

Low 40sF, and sunny, with a light headwind. I expected to see a lot of cyclists, but only saw 3 going the other way, and I passed a woman going my way. This afternoon is going to be a zoo on the MUP. I'm going to take roads. Supposed to be in the 70s F / 20s C. The first few truly nice days bring out the clueless hoards, and it's a holiday weekend. |
Great commute at 42F and sunny with no wind. First time using my candence cyclocomputer. With staying around a certain cadence, i was actually a little bit faster this morning than i usually am.
|
could really feel last nights beers (and chimichanga) while pushing against the wind this morning... ugh.
|
The most beautiful morning commute this year. I just didn't want it to end, so I took it nice and slowwwww. Downside: the warmer air temperature added a distinct pungency to the aroma wafting from the garbage truck I was tailing.

Just dragged my butt back from 12hr night shift but the weather was sooo nice. No more frozen water bottles. The nice weather really brings people out onto the MUP's... Cheery happy people who've gotten a good night sleep and have the whole day off, I hate 'em!! Although when they're in the middle of their work week I'll be off for a bunch of days and thinking about what I can buy with my stat holiday pay :)
Can't wait to ride in this evening, just love the spring weather after riding through the tail end of winter. |
WTF!!!!!! snowed was windy as hell and cold was 28 on way home where did spring go i already packed up winter gear

40F and RAINY. Needed to hunt for places to hang gear so it even has a chance of drying by quitting time. Of course the rain is supposed to have picked up and added wind by then so it's not like even if it does dry it'll stay that way to the first traffic light...
