If the original post is any indication actual riding, intelligence, or cycling experience is optional.

Agreed -- but that's not going to put food on the table for those boys of yours.

I can only do so much.

You guys can't possibly be considering a lock before we've explored the distinction between em-dashes and semicolons.

Agreed. We're having a civilized discussion. FWIW noteon -- I wouldn't hesitate cruising with you in NYC, but if you're on that whatever-you-call-it bike, there'd have to be some thin spaces between us.

What the heck did I just walk into... Anyway...

1. I agree with properly adjusting the seat. It saves your knees and helps with cycling efficiency.

2. I agree with properly wearing a helmet. If you're gonna wear one, please make sure it fits and is put on correctly.

3. But number 3 you lost me. Who died and appointed you speed Czar? The rules of the road dictated that you cruise on the right & pass on the left. Maybe you should be getting your "speedy" arse over on the left to pass the slower bikers, no?

As long as the "slow" biker is not creating a serious safety issue, then it's none of your business how fast he or she is going. PASS THEM ON THE LEFT & MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

2 of the 3 points are indisputably helpful to new riders. The third one is debateable depending on one's own specific situation. I think people are hung up on the tone.

The commuting forum always seems a bit stodgy anyway.

You need to go back to my amended No. 3 -- it's back about 110 posts.

I'm worried about how I will ever replace them...since the sandals they are making now are all more like shoes. Why do they hate open toes and freedom?

I've got the new "closed" version. They're basically like wearing shoes with a hole cut out for Mr. Big Toe.

Hang on to the oldies as long as you can.
