You mean that all of those miles that I put in before I joined BF don't count? Does it matter that the Interwebz didn't exist when I started riding seriously in 1982? Can I get my Dad to sign a paper that testifies to the fact that I learned to ride a bicycle in 1967? Can I get a waiver that proves that I existed before 2007?

I use them down to mid 40ish or so by themselves...with a thin wool sock down to about 32, with a thick wool sock or more below that. Trouble is, my sandals only have so much strap that can be secured...so a thin pair of socks and the sealskinz are all I can manage.

To take "advice" obtained from ultra performance sources as gospel for bike commuting is at best foolish. To give "advice" as the one true or proper answer to all other commuters, especially newcomers or beginners, based on those same performance sources without qualification is downright stupid.
