Days I Rode
Something I started in April (partly out of curiosity, and partly to encourage myself to ride more) was to make a note each day I went somewhere on the bike (class, groceries, post office, etc). The goal wasn't mileage, but the act of riding itself. It helped get me on the bike more, which I appreciated. When things get hectic, it can be tempting to rely on the car more than one needs to.
Anyway, it's just something I've been tracking for a while now. I don't make myself ride just to be able to count a particular day, but I think it helped turn my mindset more toward riding. Aside from that, I'd like to see how my riding patterns vary through the year. I'd expect them to be highest in the spring and fall, but lower in the winter and in the summer. We'll see.
In April, I counted 11/20, or 55%. In May, it was 26/31, or 81% of the month. The end of term played a big part in this, as during the spring semester, I typically could only ride on Mondays and Fridays. Of course, there were always weekends, but I rarely felt like riding due to work and weather.
I'm starting this thread now since June is around the corner. Maybe someone reading can use this to gain a greater awareness of his or her riding patterns.

I have about 25% over the past 2 months (where I kept a mileage log) due to:
1) vacation
2) five AP exams to study for
3) Moving truck left with my bikes 2 weeks before we actually moved
ah, excuses...

Sounds like a good idea! Its been about 4 months since I have missed a day myself, though a short day might be just a couple of miles to the library or something.
If you start getting up there in miles a "cycling log" might serve the same purpose. I just wind up with a page a month or so tracking mileage on both of my bikes, equipment changes, nutritional things, weekend rides and anything else I can think of. Mostly its stuff that I wish I had kept track of years ago, to answer questions like "how many miles did I get out of that tire?" or "when did that elbow pain start?" or "how long did it take me the first time I did that route?"...

I started keeping a daily mileage log in May, and I rode all 31 days and topped 1000 miles for the month. Coincidence? I think not.
