I'll have to keep that "dunking the jersey in water" trick in mind next time. Just thinking of that makes me feel cooler.

On the few upper 90's to 100+ we get here in Denver, I'll take a bandanna and roll a single line of ice cubes in it and tie it around my neck. Too many cubes and you get the brainfreeze (which is odd in 100+). Just the right amount lets me feel the heat on my skin but I stay pretty cool and happy otherwise. No need to slow down and the melt water feels great going down your chest and back.

Used to have a bandanna with gel sewn into it. Soak the bandanna in water for five minutes.
The theory was to cool the blood in your neck heading to the head. I used it when I
was hiking along a stream or river. The gel would dry out in 30 minutes or less. Then I
would re soak it. I thought it worked pretty good.

desoto arm coolers, yes coolers on ebay for 25bucks. yeah they help, my arms doesn't burn in the hot sun, nor does sweat constenily drip.

buff, cheap ones on ebay for 5 bucks, buff orginal is 15, i just have the cheap 5 dollar one and it does work. on long bike rides wear it in priate style so it covers back of neck. keeps sweat out my eyes and surpirsingly keeps head cooler.

base layers, wearing tight ones agaist your skin makes you feel cooler by keeping sweat off your skin. chapion c9 at target for 10-15bucks

only other thing i do is put salt and srugar in a water bottle in the freezer over night slanted, 3/4 way full. before ride take it out and add more water. take my chill jacket camelbak put ice in that. by the time the frozen one mealts its still cold and my camebak is empty. works good on trainning rides. but really wicking materal covering the whole body works. cotton is the worst material for cyclist.

You're preaching to the choir. If we didn't embrace it we wouldn't be having this conversation. We'd just be driving to work.

No I'm not. I've seen a number of post about giving up commuting when it gets (even not very) hot. I know locally cyclists who whine non-stop about the heat. I know that if I am having a bad day that the heat gets to me more until I remind myself not to let it. Most everyone needs a reminder to enjoy it.

With all due respect, I think those posts (which I also saw) are in another thread. This thread is about dealing with heat; not avoiding it.

I'd add 1/4-1/2 tsp of salt.
