Who hates 'Gurlys' (Surlys)?

Over-rated!

To hate sensibly, say how so.

Based on what? We have two in my garage and they are very well designed bikes. A great value for the price, in fact.

Wow. You actually talk about bikes and not locks or lights. There is a God. :D

IbikezLA 06-28-09 02:00 AM

Are you just here to troll, or do you actually have something to say?

Overrated only on this forum. In real life, I've only ever seen one. There's a guy I sometimes pass on my commute that has a Karate Monkey. I'm intrigued by the cross-check and/or LHT myself, but I already own two nice commuters (a touring bike and a hybrid), so it's hard to justify getting another bike that isn't much different than what I already have.

I have a new surly cross check, about 175 miles on it. Great bike for the money.

Fremdchen 06-28-09 06:49 AM

What the hell is wrong with being girly?

mihlbach 06-28-09 06:54 AM

My LHT is the Swiss army knife of bicycles. Its heavier, bulkier, and more complex than I usually need it to be, but its gets the job done 99.9% of the time. I have other bikes I ride for enjoyment.

wolfchild 06-28-09 07:06 AM

I have a surly 1x1 , it's a " do anything, ride anywhere type of a bike". I love it.

lil brown bat 06-28-09 07:29 AM

Why should I hate them? They've never done anything to me. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Troll thread.

CliftonGK1 06-28-09 07:40 AM

Let's see:

7500 miles on my Cross Check in the last 18 months. Includes commuting through 2 snowy (for here) winters, over a dozen centuries, 2 doubles, and I've earned my ACP 200k and 300k medals on it. I'll be earning my 400k medal on it in August.
It was reasonable priced, is comfortable, and hasn't fallen apart underneath me. Yeah... totally over-rated.

degnaw 06-28-09 07:59 AM

Keep in mind the OP is the same person who referred to slick tires on CX bikes as girly.

I don't get it ?? Why would OP even try to start a hate thread about a 'Brand',which has been proven to be, a great and very versatile frames by thousands of riders all over.

I'm pretty sure you are thinking about the guy with 'jack' in his name, not that guy.

Surly's aren't bad bikes at all, but I think the whole steel thing is overrated. In comparison to wheel, seat and seatpost flex, frame flex is so minimal I don't see how it could be noticeably measured at all. Plus you can just use smaller diameter aluminum tubing to make it flex more.

I would love to have a Titanium frame, though.

Tabor 06-28-09 09:13 AM

I would love to know why you think so, you might even be right. But for the time being I am going to have to assume you are a troll.

My mother used to tell me that miserable people like to make other people miserable.

Don't take the bait. Move on.

Because he rides a BD bike.

Looks like there are only a few who dislike them.
I love mine.
