How many miles is your commute?
 

Ok, for this poll I only want to know how many miles you commute is (ONE WAY).
Yes, I know many factors go into it but this is strictly distance.
I am going to create another thread for time taken on a commute.

I think this will help others understand how far the "average" bicyclist is commuting.
Maybe, just maybe we'll get a sticky!

I'll start, 13-14 miles, not sure exactly but this should be very close.

I usually add 5-10 miles to the commute when I have free time, especially on the way home....but I chose 0-3 because my house is only a couple miles from work.

is this one way or round trip?

Ohhh good question, I anticipated it to be one way

+1. My commute could be as short as 2.7 miles each way, but on the way home, after sitting at my desk all day, I like to extend it to 7 or 8. So I voted 4-7, because that's what it would be if you averaged all of my commutes.

I commute 14 miles, only one way. I then have the delight of taking a commuter rail home with my bike.:D It saves a lot of hassle on the road, compared with the serenity of my early morning ride. During the nice weather, I often do a ten week Century training program and raise my weekday miles up to 30. What a Life. :thumb:

My commute is 25 miles. I ride into Manhattan from Scarsdale NY....and of course, back....damn...I'm a God?

I do recall that the commute mileage thing was covered on another thread.

Anyways, my round trip is 25 miles, so my one way is... ummm...ummm... Where's my calculator? :cry:

Not sure how to answer... technically my commute is only about 2 miles but I usually take much longer routes into work. My shortest regular non-direct route is 14 miles and my longest is over 60.

Will start an 18 mile (one way) commute starting August 3. I just switched jobs and went from 1 mile to 18. Think I'll actually be happier with this.

ahmm mine is 11.9 one way... same ride everyday... nice but any change up add 4~5 miles... sue me but I am only 450 miles into my commuting career. Still building up my muscles and stamina. maybe this winter i'll add a few miles...

25 miles total multi-modal. 10.5 mi of it by bike. Guess I'm an 8-11 mi person.

actually ride quite a bit. Just started with the commuting though

18 each way. 1400 feet climbing on the way in, 1000 on the way home. "Rolling" hills.

right now, 1-3 miles depending on what day (different classes). Next month (new apt), about 4-6. both very short, but hilly and very hot

17.5 w/an 18% grade @ 0.5 mi on the way home. Workward is a 500 ft elevation drop and homeward is 500 climbing. Most of it on that one hill. Nice commute, but I'm thinking of going back to the 20 mile route because the roads are smoother. It's easier on the tires.

My commute is 10 miles each way. Commuted a few times last year and average 3 days a week so far this year.

12.8 miles one way

The shortest route is a bit over six miles one way.

Lately, the round trip seems to cover about 20 miles if it's not raining.
