Can you run gears on the 1x1. Also not sure if it has a chainstay bridge to accomodate full mudguards.

Trek Portland will take full fenders and rear rack no prob. Not sure how wide you can go on tires though. Pretty sure my 1x1 has a bridge;I'd have to look again to make sure. But I don't know how big you can go on 700's. Mine came with 26x2.35"s and they filled the frame up pretty good. Also,to run gears you'd need to get a hanger that would slot into the track end.

BTW,I'm running 42's on my Buzz Road, and it's got enough room for 45's easy. Will take fenders and a disc-compatible rear rack. The fork sucks, but with the mondo 42's it rides fine. You'd just need to stay away from high-psi skinnys.

Also, keep in mind you won't get hydros on anything with a drop bar. You can run hydros with a trekking(butterfly) bar if you want the extra hand positions and to be able to get aero.

Choccy -- I dunno, was just throwing it out there. Surly seems to make these super-versatile frames. Maybe a Karate Monkey? Or an Instigator? They do love them their fat tires.

This is very nice but £1900 for a commuter frame is a bit much. I do like Ti though as I know I don't have to worry about corrosion. The only reason I'm selling my Ti frame is because of the mounts. I don't have disc or rack mounts. Only add on mounts which are difficult to set up and change.

I've just put an order in for a Soma Double Cross DC. Now need to wait a month for delivery which is plenty of time to spend money speccing it out.

I've read a few reviews that say the paint on them is not great but I don't mind as I want it stealthed out in black anyway.

Thanks for the advice guys and gals, especially about tyre size and the Singular Peregrine which set me on the CX path.

I'll post some pictures as soon as it's built.
