Car wreck IN the bike lane. Karma at its best!

I work just past a College and they started back this week. Today was my first ride with the new freshmen. Damn they drive like crap! Hate this time of year. Clears up once they finish this semester and about 30% drop from failing grades.

Ride home traffic was horrendous from the School but I get to glide past it in the bike lane. One twit not watching I had to wake her up with the Airzound. Haven't used it once all summer and used it twice today.

Almost past the college on the way home and watched a car wreck happen IN the bike lane right in front of me by about 100 ft. 1st car trying to turn right the same direction I am going. They pulled up and stopped right in the bike lane so I am about to have to stop or take the car lane to get around them. Idiot behind them was trying to merge and not watching in front of them hit full throttle to beat me thinking the other driver had gone and WAM! right into the other car.

ahh Karma is grand! One blocking the lane got it and one trying to beat me got it and gets to pay for it.

Karma works two ways, Good and bad. Driving like an idiot is bad Karma and both drivers were being idiots by trying to beat me and traffic and force their way in at the risk of my safety. They were at a light controlled intersection where I had a green light. They were making unsafe right hand turns on red and their impatience bit them both.

The first driver that blocked the bike lane I think was on the phone and stopped short when they saw me coming through the intersection. The second driver looking right at me trying to beat me rear ended the other. I was already slowing down anticipating their stupidity when they collided.
The only injuries were wallets and bumpers.

Bikema trumps double Carma. OP, you were right, one moron deserves another.

I wonder what story they each floated to the parental units back home.

And the fact that you enjoyed seeing the crash means what, karmically speaking? I'd ride my bike with extra care from now on if I were you.

Best case scenario, OP's Schadenfreude is unbecoming. Worse case scenario, it is an invitation to bad karma (if you believe in that sort of thing).

I've read that three times and I only have a vague idea of what happened.

You're lucky you weren't in the middle of that, whatever it was.

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with wanting people to enjoy the consequences of their dangerous stupidity. Too much of people getting away with harmful stupid over the past eight years, and we all pay the price.

100 feet in front of you? Wow, glad you're okay because you could have been hurt. Speaking of which, did any of the motorists get hurt? Yikes.

Yep I'm up in Cobb.

DAMN as bad as Ponce(or is it Scott by then?) is by Emory I sure as hell wouldn't ride it. I'd be on the back streets anywhere near that place.

Got to say The city of Decatur sure has made a nice turn around over the last few years. It was pretty sketchy place 15-18 years ago. Bought my 98 T700 from a guy that lived by the Post office a couple months back. I hadn't been there in years. Rode back through (in a car I was working near there) a couple weeks ago and I bet it is rocking there in the evenings.

Decatur is a great place to ride. And yeah, it's a busy place for night life. Very ped friendly downtown and places to actually eat/ drink/ hear some live music, all within walking distance.
I live very close to the Ponce corridor and it can be frustrating. I don't ride ON ponce unless it's Sunday morning. But there are ways.... I know all the back streets in my n'hood!
