This is one of the reasons I love Oregon
According to The Weather Channel:
Did I mention that it has only rained three days since June 20?
Sure Southern California gets this year round, but they have to live in Southern California.

This is one of the reasons I hate Texas. This and it being the reddest of red states.
And it's a cooling trend after 60 straight days of over 100 degrees. It's like a farkling sauna here. I can't wait for winter.

Mostly yes. Portland is more bike friendly than the surrounding suburbs, but even out here in the suburbs we've got a lot of bike lanes and the vast majority of drivers seem to understand how to drive in the presence of a bike. For road biking, the Willamette Valley area is incredible. The Oregon Coast is very nice for biking too.

OK, but to be fair, it's been freaking hot here recently. I've decided I'm no longer going to bother trying to commute when it's much above 95. I can do it but I get too dang tired in the evening. Other than the few hot days, yeah, it can be great

I'm with you on that. I used to live in Dallas. Then when I came up here to yankyeeville, and all the whiners were complaining about it breaking 80!!! My favorite thing is people going on and on about how it's the humidity not the heat, obviously they haven't been in 100+ heat before. As far as red stated go, I think OK has Texas beat hands down, you do know the only reason Texas doesn't go floating off into the gulf is because Oklahoma sucks soooooo hard.

========================
I should note that God chided me for my hubris with a light mist as I left the house this morning. I took my rain bike as penance and thus averted a full-blown drizzle.

I lived in Oregon for 15 years. The summers were awesome. I didn't mind the rain so much, since winter rain in Portland meant snow (and great skiing) on Mt. Hood.

I live in Austin right now but I am thinking about moving to Portland or another place on the West Coast after I am done with grad school.
I grew up in Houston where s**t gets BLEACHED because the sun and humidity is so intense in the summer.

95+ and humid is hot for biking, period -- especially when you're going through urban areas . You can get used to it if you live somewhere where it's the norm, but it's definitely NOT the norm here in the summers.

I was out on the left coast for vacation last month. It was when Portland was doing it's impression of phoenix, well, phoenix in april, maybe. Anyway, yeah, 95 is freaking hot, but, it's a dry 95 which is wayyyyyy nicer than what we've had the last week which is high 80s, low 90s and ridiculous humidity. If the humidity level was any higher, you'd drown.
As for perfect bike weather, I think I would go with san fran. It's pretty much 65 degrees everyday of the year, cept maybe in the summer when it drops to 63.

Oregon Boy...you suck! Now get out and RIDE!
My weather in New Orleans is much like the Texas outlook (posted above) plus I have been rained on every day this past week. Hard.
I biked down the Oregon Coast in August, 1989. South of Tillamook, the weather was unbeatable. Scenery not too shabby either.

Just got back from Burlington VT. What a nice place to cycle around town! Considerate drivers and beautiful views. It's usually cooler, but when we were there it was in the 90's. However, it didn't matter we were on vacation and on our bikes!
Someday, we gotta go to Oregon...

Stay here long enough and the wussification process will get you as it got me. Summer weather is usually nearly perfect. The rest of the time, the heavens spit on you to remind you of your place in the universe. However, despite the fact that it rains all the time, it's always a light rain. We simply don't see the torrential downpours you get in the midwest and the south.
The state is as bike friendly as it gets. People whine all the time, but the laws and culture are as easy on cyclists as I've seen in the US. I far more often have the problem of people being too nice to me than too aggressive.

Looks positively pleasant there...
I'm leaving this sunbaked hellhole as soon as I find a new job in the PDX area. I still love it here, but I'll love it from afar for awhile...
