Any Dutch commuters around?
I've noticed there's a bunch of you on my route, so there must be some others around here I guess :)
|
Yeah, I'm one of them.
Hanging around here ;) What's up? |
uhu
|
How often do you guys ride?
|
Hi Freddy,
This is my route: Almere / Schiphol-East / Almere. 35.5km each way. http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/9562/commute.th.jpg My aim is to ride it three times per week, although lately I only seem to manage to do it twice per week. Erwin |
35.5km isn't too short, I ride 25km each way and try to do it 4 times a week. Once in a while I manage to do it 5 times a week...
What kind of bike do you ride for a route like that? |
I ride between Deventer and Apeldoorn around 15km one way and try to do it 3-4 times a week. The other days I use the public.
I bought last week a second hand Koga Randonneur on marktplaats.nl with a flatbar and it's really nice. Besides the Koga I also use a Surly Cross-check singlespeed with a racing bar. But it misses some comfort for a daily trip. |
Another Dutch commuter.
My daily commuter trip between Arnhem and Duiven is about 10 km one way. At the moment I'm using an old Gazelle racing bike. |
Ohw, btw
It was raining today on my way back, and did not have my rainingpants with me, damn .... |
Hehe, I was lucky today. I left the office right after it stopped raining and had the wind on my side all the way home. I only needed 48 minutes for my 25km commute :)
|
So are you guys still commuting with this weather?

And another one here. Only 5k each way on a crappy old Batavus womens bike. Currently looking at new bikes, trying to decide between Trek and Merida offerings. I would really like the Trek District but the verdict isn't out jet.

And here another one, from limburg I ride daily 15km each way (30km round trip)
I ride on a daily basis (my wife needs the car). I ride on a steven souvereign r14 http://www.stevensbikes.de/2009/img/...ereign_r14.jpg This is my usual (shortest) route i ride but there are many ways to add extra kilometers http://www.xs4all.nl/~rlevels/route.jpg |
The fact that it's a belt drive drive also makes it quite interesting in my eyes because of the 'quirkiness'. I'm also just very, very curious about the ride with the belt.
|
Riding maximum of 4 days/week (I only work 4 d/w) to Leeuwarden (15 km one way). I try to go by bike as often as possible, but if it's raining I'll go by train or car.
|
Have been skipping two days now, due to the weather forecast. This Monday I came home and was completely soaking wet. One of the things that suck about riding in the rain. Though, I have neoprene overshoes, and my feet were still warm.
|
I cycle (almos) every day, except when I have to go to a customer. It if just under 5 km one way from Gouda to Moordrecht. I am using a Gazelle roadbike, which is probably overkill. :)
Maybe I am the only one, but I enjoy cycling in the rain. |
I only enjoy cycling in the rain on the way home, not so much on the way to work. But I like public transport on a rainy even less than on a dry day so the choice is simple. Have to get a proper raincoat and some rainpants and then the morning commute is better in the rain.
