Lake winter shoes will be late
 

I ordered the lake MXZ302's wide winter shoes last Friday and called to see when they would ship. Hopefully I will see them by the end of october. Just in time for the cold of November....I hope they are as good as they say.:)

I would still love to hear why they skipped size 49.

I actually wear a 48, but they supposedly run small, plus would want extra sock room.

Lakes are worth it and a reliable CO.

They do. Get a size larger than what you would wear in a standard road shoe. Or even a size and 1/2.

I wear a 43 and got a 44 last year. Am able to fit polypro AND wool. My commute's 1.25 hrs in and 1.5 hrs home. Have a pair of Sealskinz I found at a thriftstore for .49US. They work best for long rides w/a chemical toe warmer as they're designed to stay warm while wet. Did a couple of centuries last winter(6 hrs+:twitchy:)and they were great. The shoes AND socks.

It's tough dropping 250.00 for shoes, but they ARE worth it. I got the road version. Just have to be careful and resist over tightening them as the 'fishline' could break over time. I got mine for 243.00 w/no shipping. Don't remember where, so I'll have to check my records and post back.

Every year I have to re-learn how to not over-tighten them.

I have learned to keep a couple of replacement BOA reels in stock at home.

mike, did u get them in? if so how do u like them? did u go with the same size as your road shoes? i am a 47 and have a set of BG Comp MTB Shoe from specialized that are a tad bit loose and i ordered the lakes the same size so i hope they fit..

The shoes fit great. Acutally, they are a little narrower than I expected but the fit is fine. I ordered a 9 and my shoe size is 8.5. They have been warm into the 20's. If the get a little cool, I now have room the wiggle my toes and they warm back up again...

Where did you get those? Are they user-replaceable?

These shoes do what they are supposed to, but considering that I paid nearly $300, which seems especially expensive for a Chinese product, I expected them to be more durable, and not to have what is apparently a design flaw with the back-bottom coming apart. I had that problem with both of mine, and Lake "fixed" them and sent them back to me in short order. But that wasn't long ago and at least one of them is already coming apart again. The sole is coming detached from the upper in several locations too - I know the manual states fixing this periodically, but having this much trouble in less than two full seasons seems a bit much. I'm going to try to fix what I can tomorrow, but I think I may be calling Lake to complain, even though they are now out-of warranty. I don't know if they will last another season, at least without having a cobbler go over them. I might be looking for a new pair, and as it stands now they won't be from Lake.
