Sinister SUV

Riding home last night at about midnight, I was on the cycle track that runs parallel to the highway, the track is a few feet lower than the road, when this SUV passed me. I thought nothing of it until the SUV was some 30 meters ahead when it stops, reverses back along the highway, (deserted but still a main highway), at speed until it reached me, then just stopped waited until I passed and very slowly moved off.

OK he was probably just checking out my lighting, Iblaast up front and the new fibreflare on the rear, but it felt quite unnerving. He could have given a friendly toot, but nothing. Weird f***er.

On a lighter note I'd had a real sh*tty shift, I'd not manged any proper tea breaks or my meal break but managed to get 5 mins and grabbed a coffee. I went into one of the back offices which are empty over the weekends where I had stored my bike. I go there sometimes just to look at the bike as it's kind of relaxing.

I was feeling pretty miserable and p*ssed off as I was having an awful time at work. I was looking at the bike which was facing me, sipping my coffee, thinking how nice it would be to just get on and ride out of that place when all of a sudden the Planet Bike Beamer headlight turns itself on and starts Blinking at me!

It was really weird, it was as if "Franco" ,(the bike), was saying "Cheer up, we'll be on the road soon!" Me and that bike have been through some times, some big crashes and although it's been relegated to a back up commuter now, I could never get rid of him.

The light has never done this before, it has always been super reliable. Loose connection in the light or Franco being comforting, either way the timing couldn't have been better. :thumb:

Hehe weird thing was when I first got him I was convinced he was trying to kill me. Really unnerving, but then we got involved in being run over, where he took the damage, and then crashing off road at speed which without his forks I would have probably broken my neck, my whole attitude towards him changed.

I always consider him my safest bike to ride, and if the weather is really sh*tty Franco comes out. :)

If that's true you have a keeper, that bike would hunt down anyone who messed with it and fix itself up from any damage. Awww I can dream....
