I live in Dallas, seriously doubt there is any car share program here.. They LOVE SUVs too much to do something so progressive.

My commute in on a local MUP that follows the river. Its one of the most peaceful commutes that I can imagine. Taking in the morning air while the sun rises over the river... very serene. The same commute by car takes about 10-15 minutes, my bike commute is about 30 to 40 minutes. I feel much better during the day when I bicycle commute :) The ride home is great as well, all the housewives are out jogging. In fact I have a hard time deciding which is better, the morning or afternoon :p

I agree that's its secondary. My commute is a/b 20 miles by bike 17 by car each way. So, I either spend 30 via car or 1 + hr via bike. The bike version is always better.

I also didn't start commuting for that reason, but now if I don't ride for a couple days, I feel fat and stressed.

It's got all the hallmarks of an addiction. But at least it makes you healthier rather than sicker :)
