Saddle Recommendation
What's a good road/cyclocross saddle to use for commuting?
I currently have a one-year-old Specialized "Telluride" that's falling apart and not very comfortable, so I'm not interested in another one of those. Something with good scrotum clearance and good durability is what I'm looking for. Thanks |
Astrapi, I ride with the Brooks Team Pro (leather). It's perhaps the toughest seat ever created, and longest to break in, next to a stone bench. I have about 400 miles on this one and it's beginning to feel like it's softening. Some use Proofhide to soften the leather, but I wanted to experiment and see which would be defeated first: the Team Pro or my #@@. After a thousand miles or so with no softener, I will put a coat of Obenauf's leather protector, not softener. But to if you wish to avoid all of this, buy the Brooks B-17, I hear it's ready to go out of the box (shorter break-in period).
Cheers |
I've got both a Team Pro and a B17. As you note, the Team Pro is just starting to soften after ~500 miles, and that is with proofide. Not uncomfortable, just getting much more comfortable.
The B17 started showing "dimples" and break in at ~100 miles. Love them both. |
anyone got any recommendations for a non-leather saddle for us vegans out here? Looking for one for commuting and mid to long distance touring.
thanks tim |
