Brompton

I'm thinking about buying the L type Brompton for a commute that involves a train ride. Anyone own a Brompton and have any comments on the L versus T models or the bikes in general? I'm thinking about getting the battery operated lights.

If you're getting battery operated lights, why get the T version? Get the L Version because you can always add a Brooks saddle bag or the front carrier. The dynamo lights that come with the Brompton do not last very long and your're better off going battery operated.

Question: why are you getting a 16' inch wheel folder?

I'm getting a folder because my commute involves a train ride and I want to take the bike on the train. With a non-folding bike, if the train is too crowded the conductor can tell you to get off; not so with the folder. I also like the idea of owning a bike I can fold and take anywhere.

I agree with you on the rack. Brompton actually makes an excellent front bag. I was assuming that the generator lights would be more reliable and easier, but if you are saying they are not reliable then I would definitely go with the L version. You really think battery is better?

Battery operated lights are better than the Brompton dynamo lights. The only thing you'll regret with the L version is the rear rack. Most Brompton owners I know that choose the T version have seen the lights fail within a year of use. There really is no comparison to the Schmidt hub.
