Hit a wooland creature.

So...I crashed yesterday

I was riding down a path through some woods/apartments yesterday to avoid 5 o'clock traffic, and out comes a squirrel on the path. These thing usually just scurry off, so I didn't brake too much. BAD decision.

I ran over the squirrel, which somehow made my front wheel stop completely. I flipped over the bars at about 20mph, and landed HARD on my right arm. Somehow I bent the front end, and got two flats from this ordeal.

I brushed myself off, and THE SQUIRREL JUST RAN OFF! Adrenaline is amazing, because I walked about a half mile before my arm started to kill me and I couldn't move it.

so I went out to the ER, and the pain got worse. The X-ray was terrible, because I had to move my elbow and straighten my arm. They don't think it's broken, only bruised, swollen, and sprainedbadly.

So i'm in a sling/pain meds until thursday when I see the orthopedist. I've regained the ability to type now...so my range of motion is improving somewhat. Still sucks.

So I can't bike or drive my truck (manual) for a while...luckily I can borrow a second car.

I also had a couple big photo assignments today that I couldn't complete cause my trigger hand can't reach my face.

be safe out there!

p.s has anyone sprained their elbow before and have a ballpark estimate of heal time before biking again? I know it varies so much, and I will listen to the doctor, i'm just wondering.

A break takes about six weeks to heal completely in a healthy adult. A sprain can take as long as twelve weeks...

Follow Doc's orders and do not attempt to rush things or you'll just prolong the healing process.

Rest

Ice

Compression

Elevation

And of course all the drugs you can get from them!!

Sorry about yer spill. I'ma gonna kill me a squirrel just for you.
REVENGE!!!!

Must have been a country squirrel. City squirrels are more adept at avoiding squishings.

Lucky you didn't actually break anything, or worse.

Last year I run over a squirell with both front and rear wheel, I didn't crash and I believe I killed that stupid thing. These animals are so stupid I don't even feel sorry for the anymore.
