I have a FCN of 6, due to riding a road bike w/ hairy legs and non-cycling clothing, but with clipless pedals.

I dunno if I did this right

-roadie+hairy legs 4 (I commute on a conversion fixie, not a 'proper' bike. I also use my roadie)

I'm so non-competitive I don't even care a little bit.

I will say, they need some frame materials questions. I should get extra points for riding a bike that's half hi-ten. Also air pressure. When I come by running 30 psi on a 50lb bike, you should really feel bad about being passed.

Question is, what would be the "Fred" line? I'm a 12 on that scale. MTB with slicks, panniers, beard, non-cycling clothes. Clipless pedals though. Is that enough, or do I need the milk create and wrong-way stem?

EDIT: You got an 18?!? On what, a bike rickshaw?

I scored a 4 this week, but next week may be higher. come winter i'm putting on the face mask. And sometimes I tow the kids in the trailer...so eventually i might get up to a 7 or so.

No one around here to race during my commute (usually). Occasional pleasure bikers out on my way home, but they tend to be going the other way. Passed an older gentleman (late retired age) with a Surly Steam roller once. He apparently had just gotten it and was shouting with a bit of panic in his voice "I can't stop peddling ...."

I adhere to the JoeyBike scoring method personally.

+2 points for every cyclist you pass.
-10 Points for every cyclist that passes you.

Funny site. When I start bike commuting, the city's bike commuting population will increase to 1.

I'm conflicted on some of the questions. I wear baggy shorts over my UnderArmor, my trunk folds down into panniers when needed, and I also do all my grocery shopping on the same road bike. And what, no mentions of lights or fenders?

But that gives me (arguably) a base of 6. If only I encountered other commuters more than twice a month...

I scored a 2. I won't be making many points either, since I the only similar-level commuter in my area is the guy I commute WITH most of the time.

This only works for men. I shave my legs because I'd look gross in pantyhose otherwise, and obviously I can't grow a beard.
And why no category for hub gear bikes? Do they get lumped in with hybrids or with fixies? I call my Metropolis my "stealth" bike. While cruising down 10th ave. on the way to work one morning, I could hear a derailleur gear shifting behind me. So I shifted up. One block later, I could hear it again. Shifted up again. This went on until I got to a street where I needed to turn right, then I looked back and saw a bewildered young woman staring at me from the saddle of a touring/cross type bike about 30 feet back. Without the visual cues of a derailleur or the sound of a shift to go by, she had no idea I was also shifting up. :D

How many points would I get for commuting on this? (has an 8-speed hub with drum brakes!)

FCN 7 for my lycra-clad, back-packed, bearded, flat-pedaling, helmet-wearing, hairy-legged roadie self.

Got a 15 mainly cause of my electric bike. I don't get why an electric bike is a 14. I'd expect someone to feel pretty good passing an electric bicyclist. And then, if I do get passed, I should drop about 10 points! No excuse for being passed!

Never been passed on my commute in at least four years, even by folks trying to by breaking the SCR rules.

My is 12, passed someone on the road bike last night.
