Almost got run over today. Purposefully.

So there I was, going down a hill at possibly 40km/h (the bike I was riding didn't have a cyclocomputer, but that's a good estimate). Suddenly, I hear honking and this guy passes me by centimetres of distance. I had to get that rage off my chest, so I gave him the finger. It felt good. For 2 seconds. Then I notice he pulls over. I pass him giving him the finger (), and the guy reacts by cursing and accelerating towards me. I had to jump off the bike onto the sidewalk, and he then proceeded on his way.

Lesson learned: Don't piss off drivers. Never.

Pic of the hill:

Sweet hill!
No shoulder, narrow lanes... you betcha I'd be riding right in the middle of that lane coming down the hill. Too bad if it pisses people off.

True but I find even in that situation people will still pass with inches by straddling the lanes. Of course then there is also some last minute escape room. Worse is when they cut DIRECTLY in front of you going down a hill then brake.

I usually take a few backstreets to avoid that hill, but today I wanted to give it a go (I was riding a bike with gears. I usually ride a singlespeed) and pedal really hard. Bad luck I suppose.

I've been trying REAL HARD lately to control myself lately. If not for my own peace of mind, then to avoid situations like this.

There are some crazy MoFos out there people.

What's the speed limit on that road? Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself (granted you are able to). Otherwise get their tag number and report an aggressive driving incident. Unlikely anything will happen, but you never know.

I've come to expect motorists' antics such as the OP's, it now takes a lot to get my ire, and even then I just shake a pointed finger at the very most. If the situation really dictates it, I'm now calm enough to get a better description of the motorist, their vehicle, and license number to turn into the local law enforcement.
