I am a ZOMBIE

Beautiful sparkling day today. Missed my commute as I'm being picked up after work today.
Went for a walk at lunch time, again, its sunny, breezy, and cool. I'm lost in thought meditating on the sidewalk in front of me. My biker senses keep me safe from impending hulks of steel.
But
When I crossed a street I heard the whoosh of bike tires hitting brakes and swerving around me then the click of the levers as the brakes release.
No swearing or name calling. Just avoiding the zombie.Tomorrow, when I ride, I'll get a smile as this is a daily event for me when I'm on the bike.
Gotta be careful out there even on your feet.

You should have posted this on some car commuting forum. Then you'd hear all those car drivers ranting about the f***ing cyclists.

Where is Stumptown where all the sunshine is that you are talking about? I could go for some of that.

Bike lanes/paths over here complicate many an intersection. When my relatives visit, I always give them a tutorial on crossing the street.
The Dutch, though very skilled and comfortable on their bikes, are loath to applying their brakes once up to speed.
I now find myself copying them more and more: Ding ding "Pas op!"

funny post. thanks for the descriptive narrative because I can hear those sounds.

at first i thought you might be a zombie cuz of all the riding; am & pm prep & lack of sleep cuz you're dreaming about riding. I have my own private little Hell, I guess.

Indeed Portland , OR.
Perfectly clear and sunny this AM. About 35F. Excellent ride in AND wouldn't you know it...
A guy stepped out right in front of me! Usually I see them (the zombies) at night.
While I did give ding on the bell I said "good morning" and laughed out loud. I'm sure he thought me a bit crazy.
ANY scrap of sun this time of year is helpful for all of us.

went for as walk to the mall and almost fell asleep in the sun as women and little girls paraded by with giant packages from the american girl doll store. I even took my shoes off. after 20 minutes; when my zombie head started to nod I knew it was time to come back here and post about it ... zzz ...

Yep, Stumptown and the sun is out, as it is here in Seattle. The rides home have been gorgeous, if chilly, under a big fat full moon. The sun may be low this time of year, but at least the moon is high!

I have a maintenance route at work that takes me to Portland every few months. Love the cycling culture there, I always bring my bike, and nary a desk clerk at any hotel has ever blinked when I lug my bike into my room.
