Yes! The Nashbar XCross frame and fork will do all of that. Including really fat tires. I currently have a set of 35mm wide tires on mine and there is still room for a much larger tire. I still have over 10mm of clearance on each side of the tire.

Nashbar aluminum clyclocross frame

I also have the Nashbar cyclocross fork. Carbon fiber with aluminum steerer. Avid BB7 on the front. The rear can take disc or cantilever brakes.

You can have it in any color you want so long as it is black. I have covered mine in black reflective tape. It's invisible in daylight but, really lights up when you shine light on it.

There is a large selection of frame sizes.

The ride: I like it. I've put enough miles on it to recognize some spring on big bumps either from the fork or the fork and frame and or to include wheel and tire.

Why aluminum? I live in South Florida, commute in the rain. The frame won't rust, ever. I even drilled a little drain hole at the bottom of the bottom bracket. It's covered up by the cable guide that keeps sand from blowing in but lets any water drain out. That includes condensation inside the frame.

I built my entire bike for what the Gunnar frame alone costs. It's just as ridable an reliable as anything else.

The nashbar frame/fork combo is pretty tempting. It'd be around $280 for frame/fork. I think i'd want the carbon fork in case I ever decide to upgrade the frame. It looks like everyone that has the carbon fork has liked it.

You're in SLC? Get ye a Wound Up Team-X Disc cyclocross fork. They're local to you. I have a Bontrager clone of their fork and I have the real thing. The real thing is a wonderful piece of work. Beautiful to look at, and lovely riding on the road. Expensive as all get-up, but IMHO, worth every penny. I was so taken with it, I got the road version for my road bike. The nice thing is that they carry no stock. Every fork is made to order, so you can have it made exactly the way you want.

A caution about the Nashbar frame. The rear spacing is now 130mm. It's hard finding disk hubs (let alone pre-built wheels with disc hubs) in 130mm. My bike's the same way. Velocity makes a 130mm rear hub, $140 list.

I heard the nashbar carbon fork was from the same factory as wound up. But maybe that's not true, I might give them a call later today.

I didn't notice that the nashbar frame was 130mm, I know I could stretch the frame to fit, but I'd rather not.

Bummer, yep it's 130mm now. I guess that makes my frame collectible. The serial number is below 300, vary rare. That was a major feature for me when I purchased mine.

I wonder if I could just order the frame and maybe get lucky that it's built out of spec and close to 135mm.

Anyone know if the carbon fork is 135 spacing?

Salsa La Cruz is another consideration.

Forks are 100mm spacing.

I doubt it. It's a completely different design.

The La Cruz is history. A replacement has not yet been announced that I know of, but I hear it will be designed more for commuting than the La Cruz was.

I found the thread I was thinking of and it was Winwood forks or something. So you are right, totally different.
