Creature from the black canal
Found this poor girl along the side of my daily route. Not sure if it was thrown in or the rider fell in. It was found right next to a bridge by the canal. From the look of the front wheel and it's position I wouldn't be surprised if someone popped the curb and endo-ed into the canal. So.....think it's salvageable? ;)

No, the down tube is bent which means the top tube or head tube welds are damaged.

However, if you clean it up, you may discover some of the parts are useful. If not, give it to your local bike coop. I think there's one in Tempe, maybe that's the closest.

Might be a good candidate for a ghost bike.

No, that's not salvageable. Sorry. I love old steel bikes in general, but that one is from the low end of the low end, crashed, water damaged, and filthy. I doubt there's any parts on it that are worth stripping off it, unless, perhaps, if the derailleurs are Suntour.

Someone might be able to use those rims.
Or you can take it home andclean it up, strip it down, then build it back up. It can be a learning expirience for you. Best part is if you break something on it in the process, who cares. When you are done haul it down to the co-op. |
