Help With Commute Route
Hi Everyone,
I'm planning on riding from home to work tomorrow. My starting location is Hoboken, NJ and finish is in SoHo, NYC. 1-way trip of 20 miles. My issue is getting from the NYC side of the George Washington Bridge to the Hudson River Greenway, which is a path that runs along the Hudson river. This path will take me all the way to downtown. I've always just ridden through the city, but would prefer to avoid that. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...01929&t=h&z=16 |
Ok, I don't know the area or any relevant laws *at all*, so this may not be helpful at all.
That said, it looks like if you can navigate to Riverside Drive (via 181st street?) there's a footbridge and multiuse path north of the George Washington Bridge that will take you over and then under the Henry Hudson Parkway and connects up with the Greenway path. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...,0.003259&z=19 Edit: It looks like there's something similar south of the GW Bridge off of Haven Ave near W 176th, but it's much less clear where exactly it goes. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...,0.003259&z=19 |
I think you've nailed it. Can anyone confirm if this is the correct route?

If you do try that route, watch out: It looks like there may be stairs on that unlabeled path even after the footbridge. That would be a nasty surprise to encounter at speed.
