Cheap rack I put on my Trek 7.5 FX...(Is it ugly?)

Hello everybody, I just picked up this inexpensive rear rack for my bike. It seems to be of decent quality, I just can't decide if I like it on my bike. Let me know what ya think ok.

Now you blend right in with the millions of the Chinese cyclists. :)

Looks nice - now get some bags, or a trunk on there.

Yeah, it looks naked sitting there by itself.

If you hadn't told me I'd of probably thought it came with the bike. I think when the bike came without a rack it just doesn't quite look like the old familiar steed when one is added. The good news is once you live with it a while that changes.

I have often found there is a direct correlation with respect to aesthetic appeal that is related and compounded by the pleasurable usefulness of the item in question. :thumb:

Bikes looks better with racks on them, I promise.

He covered that in another post. Wanted a Trek and had few to choose from in China.

I am 5'10 and have about a 31" inseam. After about 1 week of riding, I need to lower the seat down about 1" or so. I am 47 years old without any prior riding experience, except back when I was a young teenager. Most bikes here in China are small frames and when I checked out the Giant bikes, all the had was the very small framed bikes. They said They could get me a bigger framed bike, but it would take a few months to get it. I did lots of research and reading about sizing here and on other forums, and a 20" frame of this model seemed like the best fit.

So, which rack is it?

cycle16v 01-19-10 07:45 PM

looks good... load it up! :D

Elliots Quest 01-19-10 08:04 PM

looks fine to me, you have a nice ride!

jtwilson 01-19-10 08:10 PM

Looks perfect to me. I also would like to know what kind it is. Currently rack-shopping.

Cyril 01-19-10 08:12 PM

Two thumbs up!

Looks to me like the bike should fit fine, and I like the rack too. Congrats!

DX-MAN 01-19-10 08:53 PM

Looks like it belongs there. It's just waiting to be 'dressed'.

Guilou 01-19-10 09:40 PM

Thx for the comments, it's growing on me the more I see it on my bike. I paid RMB100...which comes out to $14.65 in US dollars. The rack was just in a plastic bag without any name brand on the rack itself. The only thing it has stamped on it is the weight capacity which is 25kg.

GaryNoTrashCoug 01-19-10 10:39 PM

It's color-matched and blends well with the lines of the bike. I'd say it's a winner!

CornyBum 01-20-10 04:05 AM

Here's another thumbs-up from me, although I'd prefer that it be level and found your bike to look sleeker without it. You're commuting though, so it blends in with its function. :thumb:

Very nice ....

That little kick-out in the back will keep the panniers out of the spokes, just fine.
