My Newly built commuter

After 8 years or riding in my Motobecane Jubilee Sport for commute and leisure, I finally decided to retire it for the main reason that I had bought a Shimano Nexus 7 speed setup and the Motobecane did not have horizontal dropouts. I waited until I found a good deal on a Trek 400 frame on CL painted flat black. I thought, perfect! Well, after much modification during the build to get the commuter fenders to work and installing the rack, I am done with it. After 2 weeks of commuting on it, here is my review...

The frame itself is STIFF. It feels much stiffer than my Motobecane. I loved the ride qualities of the Moto but did not expect the big difference. I am now getting a Brooks Flyer to make up the difference in ride qualities, hopefully...The fenders were a pain. There just wasn't much clearance! I also had to install PClamps as the frame had no eyelets. It was tough taking a hacksaw into my brand new fenders but it was my only option!

Setting up the Nexus was a breeze. After some studying of pics online, I was able to figure out how it goes. Thanks Sheldon (RIP)!

I love using the IGH. It is easy and precise. I love the simplicity. It was tough getting used to the braking on it as it has the built in coaster brake but it's cool now with the front brake attached combined with coaster.

Cool! I would ride that.

Fenders are almost always a pain on skinny tire bikes.

Looks good. Welcome to the IGH world. What chainring/sprocket tooth numbers are you running?
